Work type - 100% remote, but with occasional company paid travel to their corporate office in Houston

Notes from client - We are seeking a hands-on Lead Data Scientist with deep, recent healthcare data science experience and demonstrated production-level Generative AI/LLM expertise. This is not a BI, Data Engineering, Operations Research, or primarily traditional analytics role. The ideal candidate will have a strong formal foundation in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, or a closely related quantitative discipline, combined with experience building sophisticated data science solutions in a healthcare environment. Candidates should demonstrate end-to-end ownership of advanced machine learning solutions, including model development, validation, deployment, monitoring, and product ionization. Recent experience should include hands-on development and deployment of GenAI/LLM solutions in production, such as RAG, agentic AI, NLP/LLM applications, prompt/model evaluation, or comparable enterprise AI solutions—not simply exposure to GenAI tools. Healthcare experience is a must for this hiring leader, with preference for candidates who have worked directly with clinical, patient, EHR/EMR, claims, population health, or other complex healthcare datasets and understand the challenges of applying AI/ML within a regulated healthcare environment. This is also a true Lead-level position. Candidates must demonstrate technical leadership through mentoring or guiding other data scientists, influencing modeling/technical direction, partnering with senior stakeholders, and translating complex data science work into meaningful business or clinical outcomes. Please do not submit candidates whose backgrounds are primarily ETL/data pipelines, BI/reporting, supply chain/operations research, traditional analytics, or traditional ML without meaningful production GenAI/LLM experience. Likewise, GenAI candidates without substantive healthcare data science experience will not meet the requirements. Agency screening priority: We are looking for the intersection of Healthcare + Advanced Data Science/ML + Production GenAI/LLMs + Technical Leadership. Candidates should clearly demonstrate all four areas on their resume.
