Senior Electrical Engineer

Are you an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer looking for your next opportunity with a growing building services consultancy?

We are currently working with an established and expanding consultancy that is looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its team in either Cardiff or Bristol.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants to take ownership of projects, develop client relationships and play an active role in mentoring and developing junior engineers.

The Role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical building services designs across a variety of projects, whilst taking a lead role in project delivery and team coordination.

You will work closely with clients, other engineering disciplines and project stakeholders, providing technical expertise from initial concept through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and delivery across all RIBA stages.
• Take responsibility for electrical engineering elements of projects from concept through to completion.
• Manage projects and coordinate engineering teams.
• Develop strong client relationships and manage stakeholder communications.
• Provide technical leadership and support to less experienced engineers.
• Undertake technical reviews and contribute to quality assurance processes.
• Carry out site inspections and provide commissioning support where required.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations and best practice.
• Contribute to the continued development and growth of the electrical engineering team.

The successful candidate will ideally have strong experience across a range of electrical building services systems, including:

• LV distribution and switchgear.
• Electrical load and cable calculations, ideally using Amtech / ElectricalOM.
• Generator, transformer and UPS systems.
• Lighting design using Dialux / Relux.
• Fire alarm and life safety systems.
• HV infrastructure and private networks.
• CAD and BIM software.
• Electrical design across multiple RIBA stages.

About You

We are looking for an experienced electrical engineer who can demonstrate:

• 5+ years' experience within electrical building services design.
• Previous experience leading projects and coordinating or managing engineering teams.
• Strong technical knowledge and commercial awareness.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• The ability to work independently and take ownership of project delivery.
• A proactive approach to problem solving and technical design.
• Membership of CIBSE or IET, or actively working towards membership.
• A desire to achieve Chartered Engineer status.
