Senior Mechanical / Structural Engineer

Our client, a leading organisation in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Senior Mechanical / Structural Engineer to join their dynamic team on a permanent basis. This role is based at their state-of-the-art facility in Gosport, where innovative technologies are at the forefront of their mission to empower and protect lives.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as a Senior Engineer, combining subject matter expertise and sound engineering judgement to solve problems.<br />Break down complex tasks and execute the planned schedule of work.<br />Collaborate with Project Management to task and control work conducted by technical teams.<br />Mentor others to enhance knowledge in mechanical and structural engineering within the broader team.<br />Encourage collaboration across technical teams and work with Safety Engineering to ensure compliance with regulations.<br />Develop joint technical strategies with partner organisations to expand customer offerings.<br />Ensure all projects are conducted safely, identifying hazards and addressing unsafe practices.<br />Apply consistent governance across technical programmes and act as an independent reviewer where suitable. Requirements:

Strong knowledge of mechanical and structural engineering, including design processes and manufacturing principles.<br />Thorough understanding of safety regulations and applicable regulatory requirements.<br />Proficiency in CAD software, particularly Siemens NX or SolidWorks.<br />Experience designing structures to recognised industry standards (Maritime, Defence, or Civil).<br />Skilled in designing both metallic and composite structures.<br />Competent in performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on complex structures and systems.<br />BEng in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture or equivalent demonstrable experience.
