Role: Network Operations Engineer


Position Type: Contract-to-Hire


Location: Onsite Hybrid | Portland, OR


Annual Salary : $90,000 - $95,000



Position Summary


A local Ledgent client is on the hunt for a sharp Network Operations Engineer to support network provisioning, service activation, monitoring, incident response, and customer support activities within a complex enterprise and communications environment. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement, maintain, and troubleshoot networking and voice solutions while delivering a high level of customer service.


Responsibilities



  • Provision, configure, and support network and communication services.

  • Validate technical requirements and develop implementation plans.

  • Configure routing, switching, and voice service environments.

  • Support customer implementations, migrations, upgrades, and service activations.

  • Monitor network performance and respond to alerts and service-impacting events.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity, routing, switching, and voice-related issues.

  • Coordinate with customers, vendors, field technicians, and internal stakeholders during installations and outage events.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, diagrams, and operational records.

  • Participate in maintenance activities, change management processes, and incident response efforts.

  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend service improvements.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting business-critical infrastructure.


Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in network operations, telecommunications, infrastructure support, or a Network Operations Center (NOC) environment.

  • Experience supporting IP networking and voice communication technologies.

  • Working knowledge of:

    • TCP/IP Networking

    • Ethernet Technologies

    • DNS and DHCP

    • Routing and Switching

    • OSPF and BGP

    • VLAN configuration and troubleshooting



  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent customer-facing and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in a service provider, managed services, or large-scale enterprise environment.

  • Familiarity with MPLS, SIP, unified communications, and network security concepts.

  • Experience with network monitoring, fault management, and ticketing systems.

  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, Network+, ITIL, or equivalent.
