Job Description

Senior Data Engineer The Swift Group is a privately held, mission-driven and employee-focused services and solutions company headquartered in Reston, VA. Founded in 2019, Swift supports Civilian, Defense, and Intelligence Community customers across the country and around the globe. We are looking for a skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing scalable data pipelines and infrastructure, with a focus on AWS cloud services. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data-driven applications and analytics, ensuring efficient data flow and accessibility. The ideal candidate will thrive in an Agile project management setting and possess a strong background in data management and processing. The position is in Herndon, VA. Responsibilities: * Design and implement robust data pipelines and ETL processes to ingest, transform, and load data from diverse sources into data warehouses * Develop and maintain data models and schemas to support analytics and reporting needs * Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and analysts to integrate data solutions into applications and workflows * Optimize data storage and retrieval for performance and scalability * Ensure data quality and integrity through validation, testing, and monitoring * Implement data security and compliance measures in accordance with organizational policies * Utilize AWS services such as S3 and RDS for data storage and processing * Develop APIs and interfaces to facilitate data access and integration * Participate in Agile development processes, contributing to sprint planning and reviews * Document data engineering processes, architectures, and best practices Requirements: * 5+ years of experience in data engineering, software development, or related fields. * Strong experience with SQL and relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL * Expertise with SQL scripting, database indexing, and optimization techniques * Proficient in working with views, triggers, and stored procedures * Experience in developing, creating, and modifying data structures and load routines for business use * Hands-on experience with AWS data services (e.g., S3, RDS, Glue, Redshift) * Familiarity with data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing concepts * Experience with API development and integration * Knowledge of data security and compliance standards * Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders * US Citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required Desired Experience: * Experience with AWS Cloud Data Migration Services * Familiarity with Jira for project tracking and management * Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes * Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation * Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau * AWS certifications related to data engineering or architecture Do you know anyone for this position, or other positions open at The Swift Group?
