Job Description
The Director of Clinical Services has oversight and accountability for all inpatient clinical care provided, ensuring that therapy services are provided in accordance with safe, acceptable standards of practice. The Director of Clinical Services must be qualified by education and experience in the care of the mentally ill, and must demonstrate competence in assessment, treatment planning, clinical supervision program development / oversight, and evaluation of clinical care furnished.
*Pay Range: $137K to $145K Annually
Work Setting: Fully Onsite

Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with CEO, the Director of Clinical Services defines and communicates the organization's mission.
- Acts as a representative of Aurora San Diego, LLC, with a high degree of professionalism and integrity at all times, serving as a role model for employees and students as well.
- Assists the CEO in directing the planning and implementation of goals and objectives set forth by the CEO to accomplish mission within the established parameters, procure and allocate the resources to meet these goals and objectives.
- Works with CEO to ensure financial management produces a desirable ROI : Revenue generation, expense control (I.e., personnel and non-personnel expense).
- Participates with the Governing Board, Management, Medical Staff and Clinical Leaders in the facility's decision-making process.
- Plans, directs and coordinates services for assigned departments regarding operations, clinical practices, long goals and budgets.
- Directs department in regard to staffing matters, problem solving, training, supplies and equipment requisites, human resources management.
- Knowledgeable about and adherent to federal and state specific statutes regarding involuntary treatment, EMTALA/COBRA and abuse/neglect reporting.
- Ensures compliance with quality assurance, safety, infection control, and environmental procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepares reports, maintains records, compiles statistics, etc. as directed/required.
- Carries out personnel management activities associated with direct staff supervision, including screening and selection, orientation training and development, performance management, and employee relations functions
- Coordinates programs for the development of clinical staff. Plans and conducts regular specialized in-service training, ensuring that staff have adequate training, support and resources to provide quality patient care.
- Integrates clinical services with medical and nursing services.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships across the organization and within the community, including law enforcement, courts and human and family service agencies.
- Supervises and coordinates work of licensed and unlicensed personnel. Manages quality and effectiveness of care given by staff. Provides regular feedback on quality and quantity of work and on conduct.
- Develops a cost-effective, 7 day per week staffing pattern within the unit (s) to meet needs of patients and labor budget.
- Participates within the department of clinical services in establishing the standards of patient care, policies and objectives of a given unit or program; communicates such standards, policies and objectives to unit's / program’s staff, patient, family and community.
- Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards. Complies with company policies in enforcing standards of conduct and performance.
- Organizes programs, policies and procedures that are developed to assess, evaluate and meet the needs of patients of inpatient psychiatric services, psychiatric outpatient clinics and transitional psychiatric programs.
- Performs related duties as requested.

- Master's or doctorate degree in clinically focused area, i.e., social work, professional counseling, marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling, psychology required
- Active and unencumbered CA license as a LMFT or LCSW, required
- Minimum 5 years of post-graduate experience working in a mental health setting required, preferably including at least 2 years’ experience in inpatient psychiatric setting. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in leadership position preferred, including provision of supervision of licensed and unlicensed clinicians.
- Current BLS within 30 days of hire and prior to completion of orientation required
- Certified in facility approved verbal de-escalation and physical crisis management techniques within 30 days of hire and prior to completion of orientation required
