Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Product Owner – Data Engineering to lead enterprise data platform and data product initiatives within the Life Sciences industry. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working with Data Engineering teams, modern cloud data platforms, and Agile delivery methodologies.

The Product Owner will collaborate with Product Managers, Data Engineers, Data Architects, QA teams, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into actionable user stories, manage product backlogs, prioritize features, and ensure successful delivery of high-quality data solutions.

Experience with Databricks and Snowflake is highly preferred.

Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of overall IT experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner supporting enterprise technology or data platform initiatives.
  • Strong experience working with Data Engineering teams and modern data platforms.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • ETL/ELT Pipelines
    • Data Warehousing
    • Data Lakes
    • Lakehouse Architecture
    • Data Modeling
    • Data Governance
    • Data Quality
  • Strong Agile/Scrum experience in a Product Owner capacity.
  • Experience managing and prioritizing product backlogs.
  • Strong experience writing User Stories and Acceptance Criteria.
  • Functional understanding of SQL and data analysis.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating with Product Managers, Engineers, Architects, QA, and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks.
  • Experience with Snowflake.
  • Knowledge of Delta Lake, Apache Spark, and Python.
  • Experience with data governance and metadata management.
  • Exposure to Power BI or Tableau.
  • Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Medical Devices, Clinical Research, or Healthcare domain experience.
  • Experience with clinical, research, laboratory, regulatory, or commercial data platforms is a plus.
  • SAFe POPM or CSPO certification.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own and manage the Product Backlog for enterprise Data Engineering initiatives.
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand objectives and translate them into product requirements.
  • Create detailed User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, and business requirements.
  • Prioritize backlog items based on business value, dependencies, customer impact, and technical complexity.
  • Partner with Data Engineers, Architects, QA, and Scrum teams throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Participate in Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Clarify requirements and resolve ambiguities for development teams.
  • Validate completed functionality against acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate UAT and support production releases.
  • Track delivery progress, risks, dependencies, and product milestones.
  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, governance, and compliance requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in Agile and product delivery processes.
