Job Description

Gary’s Wine & Marketplace is one of the largest fine wine retailers in New Jersey, with stores in Bernardsville and Madison. Attentive, knowledgeable service and an exceptional selection of wine, beer, spirits, and gourmet products are what set us apart.

We are seeking a hands-on Assistant Manager (AM) with strong retail operations skills to help drive the growth of Gary’s business. The AM is second in charge of all store functions, including daily operations, inventory, receiving, merchandising, scheduling, and staff supervision. The AM also handles customer service issues and helps the store meet its financial and staffing goals.

You do not need a background in wine. We will train you on our products. What we need is someone who runs a tight, organized store, leads a team with energy and accountability, and delivers outstanding guest service every day.

  • 3+ years of retail management experience, with a strong track record in store operations
  • Experience with inventory management, receiving, and loss prevention
  • Ability to lead, schedule, and train a team
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook; POS experience preferred (we will train on Vision)
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • A flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekends
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Interest in learning about wine and spirits; no prior experience required

We offer medical, dental, and vision benefits, a retirement plan with company contributions, and a generous employee discount. Retail hours include working on some weekends.
