This position offers the opportunity to influence enterprise integration strategy, improve platform reliability and operational efficiency, and help shape the future state of critical banking services supporting millions of member interactions.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and support enterprise API and integration solutions that enable secure, scalable, and reliable core banking services.
  • Define and promote API engineering standards, integration patterns, governance practices, and reusable frameworks across the Core Banking ecosystem.
  • Lead the design and implementation of cloud-native integration solutions leveraging Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and modern API management technologies.
  • Architect and implement CI/CD pipelines that automate build, testing, deployment, and release activities for API and integration services.
  • Build and maintain automated API regression, functional, and integration testing capabilities using tools such as Postman, and related testing frameworks.
  • Develop automation solutions using Python, PowerShell, or similar technologies to improve operational efficiency, system reliability, and deployment consistency.
  • Partner with application, architecture, infrastructure, security, and product teams to deliver secure, resilient, and supportable integration services.
  • Drive adoption of DevSecOps practices, including automated testing, code quality validation, security scanning, secrets management, and compliance controls.
  • Lead technical investigations and resolution efforts for complex production issues affecting APIs, integrations, and core banking services.
  • Establish monitoring, observability, alerting, and operational health metrics for critical integration and API platforms.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and integration approaches to improve platform capabilities and engineering efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineering teams while fostering engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain architecture documentation, operational runbooks, engineering standards, and implementation guidance.
  • Support release planning, production readiness reviews, operational support activities, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to strategic modernization efforts supporting Navy Federal's core banking transformation roadmap.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 15 + years of experience in software engineering, API engineering, cloud engineering, integration engineering, or related technical disciplines.
  • Experience with API management platforms such as OCI API Gateway, MuleSoft, or similar technologies.
  • Advanced experience designing, developing, and supporting RESTful APIs and enterprise integration solutions.
  • Strong understanding of API lifecycle management, security, governance, versioning, and service design best practices.
  • Hands-on experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation using Azure DevOps, GitHub, or comparable DevOps platforms.
  • Experience developing automated testing frameworks for APIs and integrations using Postman, Newman, or similar tools.
  • Strong scripting and automation experience using Python, PowerShell, or equivalent programming languages.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services and cloud-native deployment practices.
  • Experience working with event-driven architectures, service integrations, messaging technologies, and distributed systems.
  • Experience implementing observability, monitoring, logging, and operational support processes for enterprise applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across application, integration, infrastructure, and deployment layers.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, organization, and technical leadership skills.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting core banking platforms, financial services applications, or large-scale enterprise transformation programs.
  • Experience with Oracle Banking Cloud Services (OBCS), Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), or other Oracle platform technologies.
  • Familiarity with containerized and cloud-native technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience implementing security controls such as OAuth2, OpenID Connect, mTLS, JWT, API threat protection, and secrets management solutions.
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices, automated compliance validation, vulnerability remediation, and secure software delivery pipelines.
  • Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or SAFe environments.
  • Experience supporting hybrid-cloud or multi-cloud architectures.
  • Oracle Cloud and/or API-related certifications preferred.
