This position will partner with technical and operational leaders across the organization to identify opportunities where GIS, spatial analysis, data management, and visualization can improve project delivery, strengthen technical capabilities, and create value for clients. The GIS Manager will help position teams to identify, pursue, win, and successfully execute projects requiring GIS and analytical support, ranging from routine project needs to large, complex, multidisciplinary programs.
The GIS Manager will plan, recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing centralized team capable of supporting projects throughout the country. The team will build upon technical standards, established workflows, tools, and best practices that improve consistency, quality, and efficiency while advancing the organization's overall GIS capability.

Build, lead, and develop a high-performing GIS and data team, including workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, performance development, and succession planning.
Plan and coordinate GIS and analytical support for projects ranging from routine to complex, aligning technical approaches, staffing, schedules, budgets, and deliverables with project and client requirements.
Partner with project managers, technical leaders, and business development teams to identify and pursue opportunities where GIS, spatial analysis, data management, and visualization can differentiate Terracon and strengthen project delivery.
Develop and advance standardized GIS practices, tools, workflows, and templates that improve quality, efficiency, scalability, and consistency across projects and offices nationwide.
Promote adoption of GIS and spatial technologies through technical guidance, training, demonstrations, documentation, and outreach to technical and non-technical users.
Monitor GIS capability utilization, workload, performance, and emerging requirements to inform staffing, technology investment, and operational planning.
Provide technical leadership and problem-solving support for complex GIS, spatial data, field data collection, integration, and analytical challenges.
Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to GIS professionals, data users, project teams, and other stakeholders to strengthen organizational capabilities and develop technical talent.
Establish and maintain quality assurance and quality control practices for GIS mapping, spatial analysis, databases, field data, workflows, and other technical deliverables.
Ensure GIS data and deliverables comply with the Terracon Spatial Data Standard and applicable project, client, regulatory, and corporate requirements.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, metadata, procedures, and standards that support consistent, repeatable, and scalable project delivery.
Collaborate with the Director of GIS and business leadership to establish strategic priorities, operational objectives, staffing plans, and investments that advance Terracon's GIS and spatial data capabilities.
Develop strong relationships with employees, project teams, technical leaders, and clients, maintaining a long-term perspective focused on successful project outcomes, capability growth, and the success of Terracon.
Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, industry practices, and opportunities for innovation, including GIS, spatial analytics, field data collection, automation, and related data technologies.
Promote a strong culture of technical excellence, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across the GIS team and the broader organization.
Promote and enforce safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects, participate in pre-task planning, and promptly communicate safety issues or concerns to appropriate management.
Maintain high quality standards on all projects and promote accountability for accurate, complete, timely, and professional work products.
Perform other duties as assigned.
