Job Description

The Adjudication Analyst II position must have the expertise and consistently demonstrated the specialized experience to review and analyze investigative reports of an individual or other related information in order to be able to correctly identify and evaluate derogatory and mitigating information and make a recommendation regarding an individual's eligibility or continued eligibility for a Department of Energy (DOE) access authorization.

The Analyst II must possess comprehensive knowledge of theories, techniques, and practices in the field of personnel security and be able to effectively apply such principles and techniques to a wide variety of problems and situations, and sufficient knowledge to evaluate substantial derogatory personnel security cases. The Analyst II independently conducts personnel security interviews (PSIs) and is required to travel to DOE National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) sites on a recurring and frequent basis for work. Responsibilities

  • Complete the professional development training as it relates to Personnel Security proficiency.
  • Assures completeness of investigative coverage; screens investigative reports by identifying and analyzing derogatory and mitigating information, prepares detailed written case histories and case evaluations and analysis of all available information, and makes written determinations and recommends further action and processing.
  • All written products must be professionally prepared, and technically and grammatically correct without errors.
  • Case evaluation summaries include but are not limited to, investigations, reinvestigations, incident reports, and letters of interrogatory, psychological/psychiatric examinations and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)
  • Prepares correspondence related to any subsequent adjudicative action, such as psychiatric evaluations, clearance suspensions, and administrative review to include preparation of the Summary of Security Concern (SSC); and testify before a Hearing Officer during administrative review hearings when deemed appropriate by the Office of Personnel and Facility Clearances (OPFC) management.
  • Ensures SSCs prepared for administrative review are correct, complete, and in full compliance with all laws and DOE Orders, policy and guidelines.
  • Correctly enters information and data into all required personnel security databases.
  • All other duties as assigned. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or one to three years of experience in analyzing data derived from multiple reference points for a personnel security program.
  • Completed the professional development training as it relates to Personnel Security proficiency at the DOE National Training Center.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing data and resolving issues where discrepancies may exist and writing clear and concise adjudication recommendations.
  • Written products must be professionally prepared, and technically and grammatically correct without errors and maintaining the 95% average accuracy rate for all work products.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of theories, techniques, and practices in the field of personnel security and be able to effectively apply such principles and techniques to a wide variety of problems and situations, and sufficient knowledge to evaluate substantial derogatory personnel security cases.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented environment with little supervision and proven time management skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Able to obtain DOE Q clearance.
