Job Description

Overview The Software Test Engineer / Quality Assurance Engineer develops and implements quality control methodologies to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, guidelines, and procedures within a large computer-based organization. This position is responsible for developing and executing software test plans, identifying software defects and their causes, evaluating hardware and software, and supporting formal and informal reviews throughout the software development lifecycle. What will you do?

  • Develop repeatable test procedures, execute test scripts, and document test results.
  • Develop and execute software test plans to identify software problems and determine their causes.
  • Work closely with software developers to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve defects.
  • Ensure new applications and software modifications meet requirements and operate satisfactorily within the system environment.
  • Meet with stakeholders to analyze requirements, user stories, and related artifacts and translate them into test plans and clearly defined acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and present technical documentation, test cases, test reports, test data sets, and other briefing materials to support program status reviews, control gates, and presentations.
  • Participate in the team's Agile software development process and adhere to all reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with enterprise service programs and other testing teams to perform integration testing of capabilities that will be incorporated into the final system implementation.
  • Document the successes and failures of all executed test procedures within the Sponsor's issue-tracking software.
  • Establish and maintain processes for evaluating hardware, software, and associated documentation.
  • Participate in formal and informal reviews at predetermined points throughout the development lifecycle. Do you have what it takes?

  • Typically requires BS degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Documented experience working with GitHub, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Experience developing repeatable test procedures, executing test scripts, and documenting results.
  • Experience working directly with software developers to identify and resolve defects.
  • Experience analyzing requirements, user stories, and related artifacts and translating them into test plans and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, test cases, test reports, and test data sets.
  • Experience participating in Agile software development environments.
  • Experience coordinating and performing integration testing across multiple systems or teams.
