About Bank Street School for Children

A leader in progressive education for more than 100 years, the Bank Street School for Children provides students, from nursery through 8th grade, an education that engages their natural curiosity, nurtures critical thinking, and helps to develop a sense of community and social responsibility. Through a teaching approach that is fundamentally hands-on and child-centered, Bank Street students develop the courage and confidence to think independently, work collaboratively, understand themselves and others more deeply, and possess the compassion to make meaning of the world around them.

About the Position

At the Bank Street School for Children, we believe learning extends beyond the traditional classroom. Our After School Program gives children opportunities to explore their interests, build friendships, express their creativity, and develop independence through play, discovery, and meaningful experience. After School is not simply an extension of the school day: it is a space where children discover new interests, take creative risks, and grow in confidence.

The After School Teacher works with students ages 3 - 10, leading and supervising groups of approximately 15 - 20 children through a range of age-appropriate activities while helping to create a welcoming environment that encourages exploration, collaboration, and connection. Working alongside a supportive team of educators, the After School Teacher brings fresh ideas to daily programming and plays an important role in shaping children’s experiences after the school day ends. This role offers the opportunity to join a collaborative school community while gaining valuable experience in progressive education and youth development.
