Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a well-rounded Infrastructure Engineer / Technical Specialist with 8+ years of experience supporting, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting enterprise IT infrastructure environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise across compute, storage, networking, hosting services, security, databases, data platforms, and cloud platforms. The candidate should be capable of independently troubleshooting complex end-to-end infrastructure issues and contributing to infrastructure improvements, modernization, automation, and operational stability.

This role will support on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments, with a strong focus on reliability, security, scalability, performance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Infrastructure Architecture

  • Support the implementation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of enterprise IT infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.

  • Analyze technical requirements and contribute to stable, scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure solutions.

  • Work with senior architects and technical leads on infrastructure design and implementation activities.

  • Ensure infrastructure changes follow organizational standards, operational procedures, security policies, and compliance requirements.

  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across multiple technology domains.

  • Participate in infrastructure architecture reviews and technical solution discussions.

Infrastructure Support & Improvement

  • Provide L3 technical support for complex infrastructure incidents, service requests, problem investigations, and change activities.

  • Monitor infrastructure performance and availability across enterprise environments.

  • Identify recurring issues and perform root-cause analysis.

  • Recommend practical improvements to increase infrastructure reliability, performance, and efficiency.

  • Assist with infrastructure upgrades, migrations, modernization, and technology refresh initiatives.

  • Support implementation of infrastructure improvement projects.

  • Prepare technical documentation, implementation notes, operational procedures, and handover documentation.

  • Collaborate with infrastructure operations, application, security, networking, database, and cloud teams.

Capacity Planning & Resilience

  • Perform capacity planning for compute, storage, network, and cloud resources.

  • Monitor resource utilization and identify capacity constraints or performance bottlenecks.

  • Support backup, data retention, high availability, and disaster recovery activities.

  • Participate in disaster recovery drills, failover testing, and infrastructure validation.

  • Support business continuity and resilience initiatives.

  • Validate recovery procedures and recommend improvements where necessary.

  • Assist with infrastructure availability and resiliency assessments.

Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure

  • Support and administer cloud infrastructure services on AWS and Microsoft Azure.

  • Work with IaaS, PaaS, and hybrid-cloud environments.

  • Provision, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure resources.

  • Support cloud migration and infrastructure transition activities.

  • Participate in cloud assessments, infrastructure builds, testing, migration, and post-migration validation.

  • Monitor cloud resource utilization and contribute to cost optimization and right-sizing initiatives.

  • Apply cloud security, availability, and operational best practices.

  • Support automation and configuration management using Ansible, Chef, or equivalent technologies.

  • Assist with modernization of traditional infrastructure into hybrid and cloud environments.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement and follow enterprise IT infrastructure security policies and procedures.

  • Support infrastructure access management and security controls.

  • Ensure appropriate patching and vulnerability remediation activities are completed.

  • Coordinate with security teams to address infrastructure security findings.

  • Support remediation of vulnerabilities and compliance issues.

  • Maintain a secure infrastructure posture across supported environments.

  • Ensure infrastructure operations comply with organizational security and regulatory requirements.

  • Assist with security audits and compliance assessments.

Operational Excellence & Technical Support

  • Provide advanced L3 troubleshooting for complex infrastructure issues.

  • Investigate hardware, operating system, network, storage, cloud, database, and infrastructure-related application issues.

  • Perform root-cause analysis and develop corrective actions.

  • Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and process improvement.

  • Improve monitoring, alerting, and operational processes.

  • Identify right-sizing and utilization opportunities to support cost-effective infrastructure operations.

  • Contribute to infrastructure optimization and performance improvement initiatives.

  • Participate in incident, problem, and change-management processes.

  • Support enterprise production environments while meeting established SLAs.

Database & Data Platform Expertise

Provide infrastructure support and technical coordination for relational, NoSQL, and Big Data platforms, including:

  • Oracle

  • Microsoft SQL Server

  • PostgreSQL

  • Hadoop

  • Apache Spark

  • NoSQL databases

  • Other open-source Big Data technologies

Responsibilities Include

  • Support data-platform availability and operational stability.

  • Monitor database and data-platform performance.

  • Assist with capacity planning and resource utilization.

  • Coordinate backup and recovery activities.

  • Troubleshoot infrastructure-related database issues.

  • Support access management and security compliance.

  • Coordinate with database administrators and data engineering teams.

  • Support high availability and disaster recovery requirements.

Required Technical Skills

Infrastructure

  • 8+ years of enterprise infrastructure engineering/support experience.

  • Strong knowledge across multiple infrastructure domains, including:

    • Compute

    • Storage

    • Networking

    • Hosting

    • Data Centers

    • Hybrid IT

  • Strong L3 troubleshooting and problem-resolution experience.

  • Experience supporting enterprise production environments.

  • Ability to troubleshoot infrastructure issues end-to-end.

Cloud Platforms

  • Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.

  • Understanding of IaaS, PaaS, and hybrid-cloud environments.

  • Experience supporting cloud infrastructure operations.

  • Experience with cloud migration and infrastructure transition activities.

  • Understanding of cloud availability, security, monitoring, and cost optimization.

Automation & Configuration Management

  • Experience with Ansible, Chef, or equivalent configuration-management technologies.

  • Ability to automate repetitive infrastructure and operational tasks.

  • Experience with infrastructure standardization and automation.

  • Knowledge of scripting and automation concepts.

Databases & Data Platforms

  • Working knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.

  • Exposure to Hadoop, Spark, NoSQL, and other data-platform technologies.

  • Understanding of database availability, backup, performance, and security requirements.

Security

  • Knowledge of infrastructure security operations.

  • Experience with access management and security controls.

  • Knowledge of patch management.

  • Experience with vulnerability remediation.

  • Understanding of infrastructure security and compliance requirements.

Resilience & Recovery

  • Experience with backup, disaster recovery, high availability, failover, and data retention.

  • Participation in DR exercises and infrastructure validation activities.

  • Understanding of business continuity and infrastructure resilience.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting large enterprise hybrid infrastructure environments.

  • Experience with infrastructure modernization and cloud transformation initiatives.

  • Experience with enterprise monitoring and observability tools.
