A leading global supply chain and logistics provider is seeking a remote, travel-ready Network Implementation Engineer for a hands-on field deployment role. In this critical technical position, you will lead on-site network infrastructure projects across North American logistics facilities-handling physical racking and stacking, coordinating cabling contractors, and deploying pre-configured Cisco switches. This role requires 10+ years of data networking experience, deep familiarity with Cisco switch hardware, strong troubleshooting skills, and the flexibility to work off-hours and weekends during operational go-lives.

responsibilities:

Job Responsibilities Field Hardware & Network Deployment

• Physically mount, rack, stack, and activate network equipment-specifically Cisco switches-at warehouse facilities.
• Execute "rip-and-replace" operations on legacy switch hardware as well as new "greenfield" site setups.
• Work off-hours, nights, and weekends to complete switch cutovers without disrupting active facility operations.

On-Site Coordination & Vendor Management

• Manage and coordinate on-site cabling contractors to ensure infrastructure meets standards.
• Obtain hardware quotes and generate Purchase Orders (POs) for network infrastructure components.
• Coordinate the removal and return of infrastructure equipment during site closures or decommissionings.

Activation & Troubleshooting

• Create required Service Requests to engage global support/configuration teams (e.g., Manila) for live hardware activation.
• Perform real-world physical and layer-1/2 troubleshooting, including cabling issues, line faults, and port connectivity verification.

Documentation & Standards

• Maintain clear and concise network documentation and site topologies using Visio or similar diagramming tools.
• Ensure all site hardware deployments strictly adhere to corporate IT standards.
• Communicate project status clearly with internal operations, remote engineering teams, and external vendors.

QualificationsRequired Experience & Technical Skills10+ years of hands-on experience in data networking and physical network infrastructure. Cisco Switch Hardware Expertise: Proven experience with physical racking, mounting, cabling, and port-level activation of Cisco switches. Physical & Layer-1 Troubleshooting: Strong ability to diagnose real-world connectivity issues, cabling run faults, and port link failures. Documentation Tools: Advanced proficiency with Visio or similar flowcharting/diagramming software. Physical & Travel RequirementsTravel: Willingness to travel 40-50%+ across North America (US and Canada). Physical Capability: Willing and able to perform physical labor (racking heavy hardware, running cables, working on lifts/racks). Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to work night and weekend shifts to accommodate cutover windows at 24/7 logistics facilities. Autonomy: Strong self-direction and ability to work independently in the field without daily on-site supervision.
