Job Description
Role type: Full time, Fixed Term 12 months - Faculty: Architecture, Building and Planning - Department: AURIN - Salary: UoM 7 - $111,275 to $120,453 per annum plus 17% superannuation. This Applied Urban Data Science role is to shape national research infrastructure for cities and regions within a collaborative, expert engineering team.
What you will deliver- Conduct data exploration, processing, validation and analysis across priority initiatives supported by the Content Squad.
- Develop and maintain scripts, tools and notebooks for data processing, spatial analysis, modelling and visualisation.
- Contribute to reproducible, modular, versioned analytical workflows aligned with AURIN's engineering practices and technical standards.
- Collaborate within cross functional squads and with internal and external stakeholders to deliver data driven initiatives and outputs.
- Produce clear documentation, handover materials and knowledge artefacts to enable onboarding, reuse and scalable delivery.
- Bring experience supporting research initiatives in academic, government or industry settings using complex data.
- Demonstrate proficiency with statistical and geospatial data for processing, analysis, modelling, validation and visualisation.
- Develop scripts or tools in Python, R or SQL for data processing and spatial analysis.
- Operate productively in cross functional, ambiguous delivery environments, contributing with minimal supervision or onboarding.
- Apply knowledge of GIS tools, FAIR data principles or open source data management platforms where relevant.
- Utilise familiarity with version control, CI/CD practices and cloud or containerised analytical environments.

You will join AURIN's Engineering Function within the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning. The team connects researchers, government and industry with trusted urban and regional data and analytical tools. You will work alongside specialists in software, data science and data engineering in squad based delivery models to support impactful research and policy decisions that shape sustainable, livable cities and regions.
