Potensis are excited to partner with a leading mixed use developer who are looking to appoint a Claims & Recovery professional to work on a number of high value remediation projects.
This is a commercially focused position requiring experience in quantum claims. The successful candidate will work closely with commercial, technical and legal specialists to develop recovery strategies, prepare robust claims and support negotiations through to settlement.
The Role
You will take responsibility for developing and progressing a portfolio of commercial recovery matters, working with internal stakeholders and external professional advisers.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing technical, commercial and contractual information to identify and develop potential recovery opportunities.
- Preparing detailed claim strategies, briefing papers and supporting documentation.
- Building robust quantum assessments and financial claims using information gathered from commercial and technical teams.
- Working alongside internal and external legal advisers to develop appropriate recovery strategies.
- Drafting and coordinating formal correspondence, notices and supporting documentation relating to claims and recoveries.
- Assessing available evidence and helping formulate commercially and legally credible recovery arguments.
- Supporting negotiations with contractors, consultants and other responsible parties.
- Contributing to dispute resolution activity and helping drive matters towards commercial settlement.
- Coordinating the preparation of settlement documentation alongside legal advisers.
- Monitoring individual claims against agreed recovery objectives, milestones and financial targets.
- Producing clear progress reports and presenting updates to senior stakeholders.
- Attending project, commercial and claims meetings as required.
- Working collaboratively across technical, commercial and legal functions to ensure claims are properly evidenced and progressed.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring activity is undertaken in accordance with appropriate governance, policies and procedures.
About You
We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong quantity surveying background who have developed significant experience within claims, recovery, dispute resolution or construction-related commercial matters .
Ideally, you will offer:
- MRICS or FRICS professional accreditation.
- Strong experience of quantum claims and financial recovery within construction, development or a related sector.
- Experience preparing, substantiating and progressing complex financial claims.
- The ability to interpret contractual and legal information and translate this into clear commercial arguments.
- Experience working collaboratively with commercial, technical and legal professionals.
- Strong negotiation and dispute-resolution capabilities.
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly when preparing reports, claims documentation and formal correspondence.
- Confidence communicating with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management and external professional advisers.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to gather, interrogate and present complex technical and financial information.
- A structured, methodical approach with excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliver against demanding timescales.
- Strong IT and general business systems capability.
- A proactive approach with the confidence to take ownership of individual claims and recovery projects.
The role offers the ability to work on a number of high value projects, alongside realistic opportunities to advance into a senior / management role.
This position offers the ability to work remotely, with a requirement to visit the London office up3 to 3/4 times a month
