Job Description

About the role:

As our Manufacturing / AIT Technician (f/m/d), you will be at the forefront of manufacturing, integrating, and testing advanced space hardware. This role is very hands-on, as you will be building up our ground support equipment (GSE), supporting engineers and campaigns, and sharing good practices with assembly and integration. The role expects expertise in using precision tools and equipment, and involves the design, testing, and optimization of devices and processes used for production and validation of Dcubed’s innovative technologies.

We are looking for a person skilled in craftmanship, and comfortable with metal work and working on profiles. The technical challenges require strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take responsibility for workshop operations and implement effective solutions. If you’re a skilled technician with strong attention to detail, structured working methods and the ability to deliver high quality, this role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to exciting space missions.

This role requires English skills. That said, if you're a strong technical fit but currently more comfortable in German than English, we still encourage you to apply. Your English will improve naturally as you work here.

You will also need eligibility to work in Germany.

Please note that this role is aimed at candidates with professional qualification and/or vocational training education. If you have a Bachelor's or Master's degree, you may be best suited for our other roles.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting engineering set-ups, complex bread bord build-ups and reworking of external parts here even more than the test campaigns.

  • Manufacturing and Rework: Use lathe and milling machines to fabricate and modify components, ensuring precision and quality.

  • Testing: Perform and oversee shaker tests, endurance tests, and thermal vacuum (TVAC) tests to validate hardware functionality and reliability.

Candidate background:

  • Education: Professional qualification or vocational training

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience, preferably with exposure to different work environments

Candidate core technical skills:

  • Assemble mechanical systems, machines, and production equipment.

  • Perform mechanical fitting and alignment of components and assemblies.

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, assembly instructions, and engineering documentation.

  • Manufacture and modify mechanical parts using conventional machining processes.

  • Perform metalworking tasks including cutting, drilling, grinding, and fitting.

  • Fabricate custom fixtures, brackets, and mechanical assemblies

  • CNC experience

  • Welding skills

  • CAD Work: Proficiency in using CAD software for design and planning.

  • Testing Knowledge: Familiarity with space industry-standard tests, including vibration and thermal vacuum tests (nice-to-have).
