Entry-Level | Part-Time, Seasonal | $8,500 per season

_About Colorado Extreme_

Colorado Extreme develops young hockey players across all age divisions, building skills, confidence, and a love of the game from first strides through competitive hockey.

_About the Role_
The Youth Hockey Coach works with players in one or more age groups, from Learn to Play/Mite (8U) through 14U, depending on program need. This entry-level role suits someone early in their coaching career with strong fundamentals and enthusiasm for teaching the game. Reports to a Head Coach and/or Director of Coaching.

What You'll Do

  • Plan and lead on-ice practices tailored to the age group, following USA Hockey's ADM where applicable
  • Teach fundamentals: skating, stick handling, passing, shooting, and game awareness
  • Support game-day coaching: bench management, line changes, in-game instruction
  • Reinforce sportsmanship, teamwork, and effort over outcome
  • Communicate with parents/guardians on progress, schedules, and expectations
  • Monitor player safety and equipment; follow all facility/league/USA Hockey protocols
  • Collaborate with coaching staff on practice plans, evaluations, and team management
  • Assist with off-ice conditioning, video review, or skills clinics as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Solid knowledge of hockey fundamentals, rules, and youth skill development
  • Comfort working with youth across a range of ages and skill levels
  • USA Hockey coaching certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
  • Background check and SafeSport certification (or willingness to complete before first session)
  • CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain
  • Reliable availability for practices, games, and occasional tournaments, including evenings/weekends

Preferred

  • Playing experience at high school, juniors, college, or higher level
  • Prior coaching or mentoring experience with youth
  • Familiarity with USA Hockey's American Development Model (ADM)

Pay: From $8,500.
