Location: 100% Remote (PST time zone preferred but not required)


Duration: Contract - 3 months, with chance for extension


Pay Range: $50 - $60/Hr. on W2

Job Description


We are seeking a Usability Researcher 3 to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in mixed-methods UX research, user journey analysis, and cross-functional activation and a proven ability to translate research into actionable product direction, goals, and secure-by-design practices.


Responsibilities:



  • Create and drive research plans and roadmaps for a feature area or product with clear success criteria aligned to business needs.

  • Apply qualitative and quantitative methods to execute studies and synthesize data into actionable insights.

  • Assess user insights across the funnel from awareness to adoption and retention using mixed methods.

  • Share insights to activate design and engineering and influence product direction, including security-by-default considerations.

  • Recruit participants, develop screeners, and ensure privacy and security compliance in instruments and deliverables.

  • Guide multi-person research efforts and collaborate across product management, design, and engineering.

  • Apply checkpoints and usability testing to drive iterative improvements and product pivots when appropriate.

  • Contribute to target customer profiles, jobs-to-be-done, journeys, and industry trend insights.

  • Provide tools, templates, and reference libraries to help teams frame hypotheses and discussion guides.

  • Define UX goals, signals, metrics, and health instruments, integrating security-related KPIs where applicable.


Required Skills & Qualifications:



  • Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative UX research methods, including surveys, interviews, usability testing, and data synthesis.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience translating data into product decisions and roadmaps.

  • Clear, accurate written and oral communication, presentations, and research writing.

  • Experience guiding cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder expectations.

  • Knowledge of security, privacy, and data minimization practices in research workflows.

  • Experience level: 2+ years of UX research experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 1+ year with a Master's degree, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Skills:



  • Experience in the technology sector and with product-led growth, NPS, SUS, or in-product feedback systems.

  • Background in interaction design, user-centered design, or usability heuristics, including security-focused evaluations.

Education/Experience


Master's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 1+ year of User Experience Research experience. OR Bachelor's Degree in the above fields AND 2+ years of User Experience Research experience. OR equivalent experience.


[Preferred] Doctorate in the above fields AND 2+ years of user experience research experience. OR Master's Degree AND 3+ years. OR Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years. 1+ year relevant domain experience within the technology sector. 1+ year experience in research methods impacting both product direction and detailed experience design.



Additional Details



  • Schedule: Mon-Fri, 40 hours per week, no overtime.
