About Crown

Crown is a leading full building envelope contractor, delivering roofing, cladding and façade solutions across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe.

We work on some of Europe’s most complex and technically demanding construction projects across the data centre, life sciences, technology, advanced manufacturing, commercial and industrial sectors.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team and play a key role in securing and pricing new work across our project portfolio.

The Opportunity

As an Estimator, you will take ownership of the estimating process from initial tender review through to submission and project award.

Working closely with our Commercial, Pre-Construction, Design and Operations teams, you will develop accurate and competitive tenders, assess costs and quotations, identify risks and opportunities, and help ensure projects are commercially viable from the outset.

This role would suit an experienced construction Estimator who enjoys working with detailed information, has strong commercial awareness and can confidently manage multiple tenders and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review tender enquiries, drawings, specifications and project documentation.
  • Carry out detailed quantity take-offs and measurements from drawings.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities, cost plans and detailed project estimates.
  • Develop accurate rate build-ups and ensure target margins are achieved.
  • Obtain, assess and negotiate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and submit competitive tenders within required deadlines.
  • Identify commercial risks, opportunities and potential cost savings.
  • Carry out value engineering and develop alternative cost-effective solutions where appropriate.
  • Maintain an overview of live tenders and the wider project pipeline.
  • Liaise with clients and main contractors throughout the tender process, including following up on submissions and project status.
  • Support the Commercial Director and wider Commercial team during negotiations through to project award.
  • Prepare project budgets and cost information following successful award.
  • Support the commercial handover of awarded projects to the Quantity Surveying, Design and Operations teams.
  • Clearly communicate key assumptions, exclusions, risks, opportunities and budget information during handover.
  • Support the Pre-Construction team in securing competitive rates for materials, plant and subcontract works.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider estimating and commercial teams and provide support across tenders as required.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Estimator who is commercially minded, organised and confident working in a fast-paced construction environment.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working as an Estimator within the construction industry.
  • Experience in roofing, cladding, façades or another building envelope discipline is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Proven experience with quantity take-offs, measurements and project costing.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including margins, budgets, risk and opportunity.
  • Experience sourcing, assessing and negotiating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong IT skills, with experience using estimating and/or construction software.
  • A current driving licence.
  • A valid passport and the flexibility to travel to project sites and Crown HQ as required.

Why Crown?

At Crown, you will have the opportunity to work on some of Europe’s largest and most technically challenging construction projects.

You will join a growing, family-owned business with an international footprint and work alongside experienced teams delivering major projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe.

We offer a collaborative working environment, opportunities for career development and the chance to build your experience across some of the most exciting sectors in construction, including data centres, life sciences, technology and advanced manufacturing.
