Job Description

ROle: Oracle Database Engineer
Onsite
New York
 

Tasks & Duties
• Design and develop Database design and architecture
• Design scalable and efficient database architecture based on business requirements
• Develop logical and physical data models (ER diagrams, schema design)
• Define tables, indexes, constraints, and relationships for optimal performance
• Normalize and denormalize data structures as needed for performance and usability
• Establish data standards, naming conventions
• Design and monitor OCSSWeb monthly data refresh process
• Schedule business process in SQL Agent jobs and Oracle Scheduled Jobs
• Design and program ETL processes
• Design and develop ETL process for data integration
• Extract data from heterogeneous sources (databases, files,)
• Transform data using business rules, validations, and cleansing logic
• Load data into target systems
• Implement error handling, logging, and recovery mechanisms
• Schedule and automate ETL jobs using SQL Agent Jobs tool and Oracle Scheduled Jobs
• Collaborate with Business users to understand data requirements
• Database query performance turning
• Analyze slow-running queries and identify performance bottlenecks
• Optimize SQL queries (joins, subqueries, execution paths)
• Review and interpret execution plans to improve query efficiency
• Design and maintain effective indexing strategies
• Implement query rewriting and refactoring techniques
• Identify and resolve locking, blocking, and concurrency issues
• Collaborate with developers to enforce query best practices
• Maintain performance tuning documentation and guidelines
• File transfer between shared folders/Database servers and FTP servers
• Establish secure SFTP connections to source and target systems
• Transfer files between servers while ensuring data integrity
• Schedule and automate file transfers using scripts
• Monitor and verify successful completion of file transfers
• Implement error handling, retry mechanisms, and logging
• Maintain transfer documentation, including file paths and schedules
• Coordinate with business users to validate transferred data
• Troubleshoot connectivity or transfer failures promptly
• Archive and manage historical transferred files for audit and compliance purposes
• Database design/architecture/process documentation
• Create and maintain database architecture documentation
• Document logical and physical data models (ER diagrams, schemas)
• Maintain data models version on TFS (Team Foundation Server)
• Define database standards, naming conventions, and best practices
• Document tables, relationships, constraints, and indexing strategies
• Maintain version control and track schema changes
• Collaborate with developers and DBAs to keep documentation up to date

Required Skills
A minimum of 4 years of experience with the following skill sets:
• Databases: Oracle 19c,12c, 11g, 10g, 9i, Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2008/2005, IBM Informix
• Special tools: SQL*Plus, SQL Loader, Toad, SQL Developer, Enterprise
manager, SFTP/FTP, SQL Server Management Studio, Jira Software, MS Visual Studio 2016/2008/2005, PuTTY/MobaXterm for Unix
• Proficiency in PL/SQL, T-SQL languages
• ETL - SQL Loader, SQL Server Export/Import, SQL Server Business Intelligence tools – SSIS/SSRS, Oracle External tables
• Scheduling Database jobs – SQL Agent jobs – Oracle Scheduled jobs
• Version control – Database objects and documentation – TFS (Team Foundation Server)
