Systems Administrator with Security Clearance

OKTA SME / Architect Required Skills & Experience 7+ years in a System Administrator or IAM engineering role with hands‑on technical responsibilities
5+ years focused on Identity & Access Management, including SSO, SAML, and federation technologies
Deep expertise administering and architecting solutions in Okta (Universal Directory, OIDC/SAML integrations, Workflows, Lifecycle Management, MFA, policies)
Strong experience in Windows environments and Active Directory
Advanced proficiency in PowerShell for automating IAM tasks such as provisioning, deprovisioning, entitlement management, and auditing
Experience managing and configuring Azure AD / Microsoft Entra ID
Must be able to work onsite in Herndon, VA 3x per week
Job Description
The Okta SME/Architect serves as the lead expert for identity architecture and identity lifecycle management within a large enterprise software organization.

This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and governing secure identity solutions that align with internal policies, Zero Trust principles, and CMMC compliance requirements. As the IAM authority for Okta, you will oversee the integration of Okta with enterprise systems, lead application onboarding, enforce access governance standards, and build automated provisioning pipelines across Okta, Active Directory, Azure AD, and related services.

A major focus of this role is architecting scalable identity workflows, strengthening authentication/authorization patterns, and driving automation through advanced PowerShell. You will collaborate directly with IAM engineering, cybersecurity, cloud operations, and compliance teams to ensure identity and access controls support both business needs and regulatory requirements, including CMMC L2. This position requires architectural thinking, deep technical knowledge of Okta’s platform, and the ability to design repeatable, secure IAM processes. General Responsibilities

• Act as the Subject Matter Expert for Okta, Microsoft Entra, and Active Directory
• Architect and maintain Okta integrations, MFA policies, access requests, SCIM provisioning, and lifecycle processes
• Develop robust PowerShell automation to support IAM workflows, compliance reporting, and bulk IAM operations
• Create, implement, and document IAM processes including: monitoring and performance visibility troubleshooting and escalation workflows capacity planning and growth modeling

IAM landscape design, configuration standards, and governance
IMAC activities for identities, applications, and access change management processes and communication standards

• Build and maintain IAM architecture diagrams, workflows, and documentation
• Lead incident diagnosis, corrective action, and root‑cause analysis related to IAM events
• Oversee configuration, testing, installation, and modification of IAM systems and integrated applications
• Independently prioritize work based on criticality and organizational needs
• Manage vendor relationships related to Okta and IAM infrastructure technologies
• Serve as an IAM consultant to Cloud Operations, Cybersecurity, and Systems Administration teams
• Lead systems analysis and design efforts for new IAM architecture, including functional requirements
• Ensure excellent end‑user experience and support identity‑related service reliability
