About the role:

If successful, you will provide senior technical and advisoryleadership across AMES Australia's AI governance, securitystrategy, and responsible AI enablement capability. The role isresponsible for designing, enhancing, and overseeing securitycontrols and governance frameworks for AI systems, platforms, andintegrations, while leading AI-specific risk, compliance, andassurance activities. The role bridges emerging AI adoption andsound security practice ensuring AMES Australia can embrace AIconfidently while maintaining accountability, visibility, andprotection over its data and systems.

To be considered for this role, you will be able todemonstrate the following key selection criteria:
  • Degree in Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence,Cyber Security or a related discipline AND 5 years' experiencein IT, Security or AI Governance roles, including senior orlead responsibilities. Demonstrated experience with ISO 27001,ISM, Essential Eight, and cloud security Good understanding ofregulatory requirements around AI and ISO 42001
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, endpoint securitytechnologies, and AI platform security considerations.
  • Understanding of SIEM concepts, vulnerability management,incident response, and AI-related threat patterns and datarisk.
  • Proficiency in AI governance concepts, including acceptableuse, shadow AI risk, data handling obligations, and regulatoryalignment (e.g. ISM, ISO, Privacy Act).
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills,including the ability to translate AI and security risks intoclear, accessible guidance for non-technical audiences.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft 365, including Teams,SharePoint Online, and Microsoft Copilot governance and dataprotection capabilities.
  • Broad knowledge of IT security practices, designs,methodologies, tools, and processes, including emerging AIrelated security controls.
  • Strong attention to detail with good analytical andproblem-solving skills.
  • Good time management skills with demonstrated ability tosupport change initiatives and evolving regulatoryrequirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, qualityassurance, and customer service principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both internal andexternal stakeholders, including technical and non-technicalaudiences and diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning,particularly in the rapidly evolving areas of AI governance,cyber security, and technology risk.
