Job Description
PCT - Pacific Cast Technologies is seeking a Controls and Automation Engineer to design, program, and support automation systems in a precision aerospace casting environment. You will develop and optimize PLC/HMI controls for furnaces, robotics, and process equipment; troubleshoot electrical and control issues; and implement improvements to increase safety, quality, and throughput. Partner with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to integrate new equipment, ensure reliable operation, and maintain documentation. This role offers hands-on work with advanced manufacturing technologies, strong training, and growth in a quality focused, continuous improvement culture.
Responsibilities
- Design, program, and maintain PLC/HMI and automation systems for casting and machining equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, controls, and instrumentation issues to minimize downtime
- Integrate new automated equipment and robotics into existing manufacturing processes
- Optimize control strategies to improve safety, quality, and production efficiency
- Develop and maintain control system documentation, schematics, and backups
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams on process improvements
- Support startup, commissioning, and validation of new or upgraded systems
- Implement and follow safety, regulatory, and quality standards for industrial controls
Required Skills
- PLC programming (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell or similar)
- HMI/SCADA configuration and support
- Industrial networking and communication protocols (Ether
- Net/IP, Modbus, etc.)
- Electrical schematics reading and control panel design
- Instrumentation and sensor integration
