Job description

For our team in Dresden, we are looking for a Software Engineer – experienced professional or a recent graduate - who is working at the intersection between AI Software Engineering, Data Science, and Test and Measurement applications. This role focuses on applying modern AI and data-driven methods to real-world measurement and test workflows. You will work closely with engineers and customers to transform measurement data into intelligent capabilities — ranging from AI-assisted analysis and anomaly detection to LLM-powered engineering workflows.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Work closely with measurement engineers, data scientists, and customers to solve test and measurement domain-specific problems
Translate AI, ML, and agentic workflows into concrete measurement use cases (e.g., AI-assisted interpretation of complex measurement data, test optimization, & automation)
Validate technical feasibility and customer impact through rapid prototyping
Influence platform and architecture decisions through hands-on contribution
Set best practices for applied AI quality, reliability, and maintainability

Who You Are:

You thrive on challenges and bring a proactive, “can-do” attitude to every project, consistently taking ownership to drive results. You’re excited to explore and experiment with new AI capabilities, embracing emerging technologies with curiosity and a willingness to try them in practice.

For This Role, You Will Need:

Master’s degree / Dipl.-Ing., or PhD degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software / Communications Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
Hands-on experience applying AI technologies such as LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI evaluation, or agentic workflows gained through academic projects, internships, research, or personal projects
Experience developing software in Python and proficiency with common data science and machine learning libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, or PyTorch
Strong foundation in software engineering, including Python development, APIs, software design, testing, and version control
Curiosity to learn new technologies and apply them to solve real-world engineering challenges
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

Hands-on experience with measurement systems, test automation, or engineering data analysis
Experience in test & measurement or engineering domains beyond software
Experience deploying, monitoring, or evaluating AI solutions
Knowledge of RF or wireless communication systems

Our Culture & Commitment to You:

At Emerson, we prioritize a workplace where every employee is valued, respected, and empowered to grow. We foster an environment that encourages innovation, collaboration, and diverse perspectives—because we know that great ideas come from great teams.
