Job title: Hospital Indemnity Program – Product Manager

Location: Springfield, MA / Boston, MA

Duration: Long term Contract

 

Position Summary

The Hospital Indemnity Program Product Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, development, implementation, and ongoing management of hospital indemnity insurance products. This role oversees the product lifecycle, drives product innovation, and ensures the program meets customer needs, regulatory requirements, and business objectives. The Product Manager works closely with actuarial, underwriting, compliance, operations, technology, marketing, and sales teams to deliver competitive supplemental health insurance solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for Hospital Indemnity products, including strategy, development, launch, enhancements, and retirement.
  • Develop and maintain the product roadmap aligned with organizational goals and market opportunities.
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and customer needs assessments to identify product enhancements and new opportunities.
  • Partner with actuarial teams on pricing strategies, profitability analysis, and product performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, operations, claims, and technology teams to implement product changes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal insurance regulations and coordinate product filings with legal and compliance teams.
  • Develop business cases, product requirements, and implementation plans for new initiatives.
  • Support product launches by partnering with marketing, sales, and training teams to develop communication and educational materials.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including enrollment, premium growth, claims experience, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Present product recommendations and performance updates to executive leadership.
  • Identify process improvements that enhance customer experience and operational effectiveness.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Hospital Indemnity products across the organization.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in insurance product management, supplemental health insurance, employee benefits, or voluntary benefits.
  • Experience managing Hospital Indemnity, Critical Illness, Accident, or other supplemental health products.
  • Strong understanding of insurance product development and lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of state insurance regulations and product filing processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
