Senior Engineering Manager, Platform

• Lead the technical vision for the Data and Event team, aligning with company goals and driving strategic outcomes through innovative data solutions
• Oversee the design and implementation of high-throughput data solutions, ensuring that they are scalable, efficient, and capable of powering critical operations
• Partner with teams across AI, ML, analytics, and other departments to enhance and expand our self-service data platform, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the organization
• Establish and uphold high standards for data quality, governance, and system integration, addressing complex distributed data challenges with robust solutions
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and collaboration
• Balance and prioritize multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives while maintaining high standards of technical excellence
• Manage technical debt, including long term technical architecture decisions and balance product roadmap.
• Position is 100% remote; must reside in US; reports to HQ.
• MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field, plus 7 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, Data Engineer or any occupation, position involving the design, development, and oversight of large-scale data systems, distributed data platforms, or event-driven architectures.

Must also have the following:

• 5 years of professional experience leading the technical design and implementation of scalable, high-throughput data systems or event-driven architectures, including modern application frameworks, to support critical business operations
• 5 years of professional experience utilizing programming languages for backend or data engineering development (including Java, Python, or Go) and build and dependency management tools to develop, test, and deploy distributed systems or data platforms
• 5 years of professional experience architecting, building, and maintaining production data models and pipelines including relational and non-relational databases (including SQL-based and NoSQL databases), dimensional modeling, and distributed ETL or workflow orchestration systems
• 5 years of professional experience performing large-scale data processing using distributed computing and data storage technologies, including SQL and NoSQL databases, in-memory data stores, messaging or streaming systems, and workflow or batch processing frameworks to ingest, process, and manage large datasets
• 5 years of professional experience utilizing cloud computing platforms (including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)) to design, deploy, and manage scalable application and data infrastructure, including containerized or service-oriented architectures
• 3 years of professional experience establishing or enforcing data quality, governance, or integration standards within distributed data and application ecosystems
• 3 years of professional experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including analytics, AI/ML, and platform teams, to design, develop, or enhance self-service data platforms, APIs, or user-facing applications
• 3 years of professional experience managing or mentoring engineering teams, including recruiting, performance development, and fostering a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement
• 3 years of professional experience prioritizing and managing multiple concurrent technical projects, including assessing technical debt and aligning deliverables with business objectives
• 2 years of professional experience using AI- or ML-related programming frameworks and libraries (including Python, TensorFlow, or PyTorch,) to support data-driven applications or platform capabilities

• The US base salary range for this full-time position is $260,000 - $290,000 per year. annually + equity + benefits
• Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location
