Role Overview:
We're looking for a Google Cloud Platform Database Support/Site Reliability Engineer to manage, optimize, and troubleshoot cloud-native database systems, with hands-on expertise in Cloud Spanner as a mandatory requirement.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, deploy, and manage Google Cloud Platform database services (Cloud Spanner, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Firestore)
Monitor performance, availability, and reliability of production database systems
Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents, ensuring SLA/SLO compliance
Optimize Cloud Spanner schemas, queries, and instance configurations for scale and cost
Implement backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies
Collaborate with engineering teams on database architecture and migrations
Automate operational tasks using Terraform/scripting (Python/Bash)
Mandatory Requirements:
Hands-on production experience with Google Cloud Spanner (schema design, performance tuning, monitoring)
Strong SQL and distributed database concepts (consistency, sharding, replication)
Experience with Google Cloud Platform IAM, networking, and monitoring (Cloud Monitoring/Logging)
Familiarity with incident management and on-call rotations
Good to Have:
Google Cloud Platform Professional Cloud Database Engineer certification
Experience with Cloud SQL, BigQuery, or AlloyDB
Terraform/Infrastructure-as-Code experience
