Manufacturing Technician III

Location: San Diego, California (Onsite)

Role Overview

As a Manufacturing Technician III, you will serve as a key technical resource supporting a production team responsible for mechanical, optical, and electrical sub-assemblies. This role provides first-line support to assemblers on the production floor, performs quality control inspections, troubleshoots product issues, and ensures accurate documentation within quality systems. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing production support with computer-based reporting and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and guidance to assemblers on the production floor.
  • Perform assembly work as needed and support production activities involving mechanical, optical, and electrical sub-assemblies.
  • Conduct final quality inspections on completed assemblies, identify defects or gaps, and approve work prior to release.
  • Document quality findings, data, photos, and corrective actions in a web-based quality control system.
  • Perform basic mechanical and optical troubleshooting and support root cause investigations.
  • Troubleshoot returned products and generate diagnostic reports documenting findings and recommendations.
  • Collect production and quality data and prepare concise technical reports for stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with established quality processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve manufacturing issues and improve overall product quality.
Required Qualifications

An Associate's Degree or equivalent technical certification is required, along with three or more years of related experience as a Technician supporting a manufacturing or production environment. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.

  • Comfortable using computers and web-based reporting applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly in quality-focused environments.
  • Experience performing inspections, quality checks, and working from established checklists.
  • Ability to document findings and write concise technical reports.
  • Experience collecting and reporting data within quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and working in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to keep stakeholders informed of issues and findings.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a fast-paced production team.
