Vego Garden is making gardening as accessible and sustainable as possible, while encouraging gardening to be an avenue for personal and community development!

Since its successful launch in 2020, Vego Garden has quickly become the leading brand in raised garden beds and one of the fastest-growing consumer brands in the country. In just five years, our rapid growth has led to the establishment of a 200,000-square-foot headquarters and distribution center, along with a beautiful 5-acre farm.

Today, Vego Garden proudly employs over 100 dedicated team members across the U.S. and internationally. Our high-quality raised garden beds are recognized for their durability, eco-friendly materials, and safety for both children and pets. We are proud to be partnering with Costco, ACE Hardware, Home Depot, Menards, Lowe’s, Wayfair, and Amazon.

We owe our success to our loyal customers and passionate team. Through our Vego Garden Kids and Giving Back Program, we have donated more than 3,500 garden beds to schools, underserved communities, and other philanthropic initiatives - helping to grow gardens and give back across the nation by making gardening easier anytime, anywhere! We're proud to be a certified Great Place to Work company!

Vego Garden Inc. is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, veteran status, or marital status.

Job Purpose:

Vego Garden is looking for a Senior Retention Marketing Manager to lead existing customer growth and increase customer lifetime value.

You will own the retention strategy across the customer lifecycle—from turning first-time buyers into repeat customers to growing engagement, expanding category adoption, and reactivating lapsed customers. You will combine customer insights, lifecycle marketing, and rigorous experimentation to build lasting customer relationships and drive measurable, profitable growth.

This role requires both strategic thinking and hands-on execution, with accountability for repeat purchase behavior, existing customer revenue, and long-term customer value.

Essential Responsibilities:

Retention Strategy & Existing Customer Growth

  • Build and execute a retention roadmap that increases repeat purchase rate, purchase frequency, cross-category adoption, and customer lifetime value.
  • Identify the highest-impact opportunities across onboarding, second-purchase conversion, cross-sell, loyalty, and win-back.
  • Develop customer journeys that reflect gardening seasonality, product ownership, and customers’ evolving needs.
  • Partner with the Growth Director to set retention goals, prioritize investments, and forecast existing customer revenue.

Lifecycle Marketing & Customer Experience

  • Own the strategy and execution of email, SMS, and other relevant lifecycle channels, including automated journeys and promotional campaigns.
  • Build segmented, personalized experiences based on purchase history, engagement, customer value, and lifecycle stage.
  • Strengthen post-purchase journeys through product education, timely recommendations, and content that helps customers succeed in their gardens.
  • Manage the retention calendar, balancing education, product discovery, seasonal demand, and promotional activity.
  • Establish strong standards for deliverability, audience health, consent, and communication frequency.

Customer Insights, Measurement & Experimentation

  • Analyze customer cohorts to understand repeat purchase patterns, time to second purchase, category progression, and lapse risk.
  • Build reporting that connects retention activity to customer behavior, revenue, and profitability.
  • Run structured experiments across messaging, offers, timing, segmentation, and customer journeys.
  • Use holdouts and incrementality testing where appropriate to distinguish additional revenue from purchases that would have happened anyway.
  • Turn customer feedback and performance insights into clear recommendations for marketing, merchandising, and customer experience.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with acquisition teams to improve customer quality and connect first-purchase campaigns with long-term value.
  • Work with Creative, Content, Merchandising, E-commerce, and Customer Experience to deliver cohesive customer journeys.
  • Shape loyalty and referral initiatives based on customer needs and business economics.
  • Manage relevant agency, platform, and contractor relationships to support execution.
  • 5+ years of experience in retention, lifecycle, CRM, or customer marketing, including ownership of retention programs for a DTC or e-commerce business.
  • A demonstrated track record of improving repeat purchase behavior, existing customer revenue, or customer lifetime value.
  • Hands-on expertise with email and SMS platforms such as Klaviyo or comparable tools, including automation, segmentation, testing, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using cohort analysis and customer data to prioritize growth opportunities.
  • A clear understanding of contribution margin, promotional economics, and the trade-offs between short-term revenue and long-term customer value.
  • The ability to translate customer insights into compelling messaging, relevant offers, and thoughtful lifecycle experiences.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and project management skills.
  • Comfort moving between strategy, execution, and performance analysis in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in gardening, home, outdoor living, or other categories with seasonal demand and longer purchase cycles.
  • Experience with Shopify, loyalty platforms, customer data tools, or subscription programs.
  • Experience designing incrementality tests or working with BI tools and SQL.
  • A personal interest in gardening and helping customers build confidence as they grow.

Physical Demands:

This position primarily involves working at a desk and operating a computer for prolonged periods with moderate walking and standing.

Job Location and Work Schedule:

  • This is a full-time position based out of Tomball, TX.
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid schedule with one remote workday and four days onsite per week.
  • 13808 Boudreaux Road, Bldg. #2, Tomball, TX 77377.

  • Flexible Paid Time Off.
  • 12 PTO days per year, accrued bi-weekly, with incremental increases annually.
  • 7 paid Holidays.
  • 401k contribution match of 4%.
  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life insurance plans. The Company pays 100% of premiums for its employees for Dental, Vision, Life, and select Medical plans.
  • Toll Roads Allowance of $100 per month for hybrid employees.
  • Phone Allowance of $50 per month.
  • Professional Development reimbursement.
  • Company-sponsored breakfasts and lunches.
  • We offer great culture, supportive leadership, engaging activities, employee appreciation, and other perks that make every day at work more rewarding!
