Job Title: Agile Project Manager

Job Description

This Agile Project Manager role leads complex digital and infrastructure projects within an asset intelligence portfolio, focusing on clean and wastewater networks. You will manage end-to-end delivery across scope, schedule, finance, risk, quality, and resources, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes. Working with cross-functional teams, you will drive the adoption of advanced analytics, AI-driven tools, and digital solutions that optimise network performance. The position operates in a hybrid model, with primarily remote work and occasional on-site presence in Coventry.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day project delivery, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution across scope, schedule, finance, risk, quality, and resources.
  • Deliver initiatives within the asset intelligence portfolio such as digital twins, asset monitoring solutions, network optimisation tools, and predictive analytics pilots.
  • Coordinate cross-functional delivery teams including data engineers, operational subject matter experts, suppliers, and innovation specialists to achieve project objectives.
  • Maintain Agile delivery cadences to accelerate development cycles and support iterative release of new functionality.
  • Implement processes to ensure all data-driven solutions comply with data governance, cyber security, and operational integrity standards.
  • Track performance metrics for digital assets, including model accuracy, data latency, and system uptime, and use these insights to inform continuous improvement.
  • Support the adoption and scale-up of asset intelligence tools into business-as-usual operations, ensuring smooth handover and sustainable use.
  • Facilitate testing and validation of new technologies such as computer vision models, machine learning analytics, IoT and real-time telemetry enhancements, and AI-based decision support systems.
  • Document capability gaps and manage delivery risks related to data quality, model robustness, and system integration.
  • Plan, execute, and deliver water infrastructure and digital innovation projects from initiation through to closure.
  • Manage timelines, budgets, and resource plans using Agile frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, to maintain delivery momentum and transparency.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including RAID logs and delivery boards in tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or Trello.
  • Act as the primary contact between internal departments, including engineering, operations, design, and innovation, and external parties such as contractors, regulators, and customers.
  • Ensure timely and transparent communication by producing meeting packs, delivery updates, and formal project reports.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, resolve conflicts, and build strong relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Work closely with innovation teams to test and pilot emerging technologies such as AI, digital twins, and automation tools.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of new solutions, gather stakeholder feedback, track key performance indicators, and produce technical assessments.
  • Coordinate the transition from pilot initiatives to scaled operational deployment where applicable.
  • Ensure all project risks, issues, and dependencies are logged, monitored, and escalated appropriately.
  • Drive adherence to regulatory standards, safety procedures, and quality assurance processes across all projects.
  • Lead audits, readiness reviews, and quality checkpoints to maintain project compliance and governance standards.
  • Produce detailed project plans, schedules, RAID logs, and status artefacts such as delivery boards, burndown charts, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Prepare governance and assurance documentation, along with technology evaluation and pilot reports, to support informed decision-making.

Essential Skills

  • Proven expertise in Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, with experience in iterative delivery and backlog refinement.
  • Strong capability in facilitating Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Demonstrated experience in backlog management, including organising, prioritising, and refining product and sprint backlogs.
  • Solid skills in estimation and planning, supporting story estimation and realistic sprint planning using Agile metrics.
  • Operational technology background, with experience in environments where operational technology and information technology converge.
  • Strong understanding of clean water and wastewater systems, including infrastructure and operational considerations.
  • experience in delivering projects in the water and energy industry, or closely related sectors such as telecommunications, defence, or built environment.
  • Proven ability to identify project risks, implement mitigation strategies, and manage compliance obligations.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with engineers, regulators, customers, and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional team leadership, driving collaboration across innovation, design, operations, and IT.
  • Advanced interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project (MSP), Microsoft Visio, and the wider Microsoft Office suite for planning, documentation, and reporting.
  • experience with project delivery approaches including both Waterfall and Agile, and the ability to select and apply the most appropriate method.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • experience working within asset-intensive industries such as water, energy, telecommunications, defence, or the built environment.
  • Familiarity with advanced analytics, AI, digital twins, computer vision, sensing technologies, and related emerging technologies.
  • Understanding of data management principles, including data governance and data quality considerations.
  • experience using digital delivery and collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or Trello for managing backlogs, boards, and delivery artefacts.
  • background in managing both digital innovation and physical infrastructure projects within regulated environments.
  • Ability to produce clear governance and assurance documentation, technology evaluation reports, and pilot assessments.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work effectively and manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
