Job Description

Amazon is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, implement, and optimize automated material handling and control systems in our Transportation & Logistics network. You will develop and maintain PLC- and SCADA-based solutions, integrate sensors, robotics, and conveyor systems, and drive high availability and throughput across fulfillment and sortation centers. Partnering with operations, software, and reliability teams, you will use data to troubleshoot issues, reduce downtime, and improve safety and quality. This role offers ownership of large-scale projects in a fast-moving, customer-obsessed environment focused on continuous improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, program, and commission PLC- and HMI-based automation and control systems for transportation and logistics facilities.
  • Integrate conveyors, scanners, sensors, robotics, and safety systems into reliable, high-throughput material handling solutions.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize SCADA and monitoring systems for real-time performance and fault detection.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and network issues to minimize downtime and improve system reliability.
  • Analyze operational and machine data to identify bottlenecks and implement process and control improvements.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, software, and reliability teams on new projects and system upgrades.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and standards for automation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and support risk assessments and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and handover of new automation projects across sites.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to operations and maintenance teams on automated systems.
