Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a well-established tier one main contractor as an IT Data & Platform Engineer, working within a collaborative Group IT team responsible for delivering modern data engineering and business intelligence solutions across the business.
This permanent position is based in Canary Wharf, offering a hybrid working arrangement following probation period, where employees will be expected to work full-time from the office.
About the Role
As an IT Data & Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development and maintenance of modern data platform solutions. Working closely with technical teams and business stakeholders, you'll help deliver scalable, high-quality data solutions that support reporting, analytics and business decision-making.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, working with modern cloud technologies and contributing ideas within a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain modern data platform solutions.
Build, optimise and manage data ingestion pipelines.
Develop data transformation and modelling solutions using Python, PySpark and SQL.
Support the implementation of data lakes, data warehouses and modern analytics architectures.
Ensure high standards of data quality, security and performance.
Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver effective solutions.
Produce technical documentation, troubleshooting guides and best practice documentation.
Work within Agile methodologies and utilise Git-based version control.
Continuously improve existing platforms and stay up to date with emerging technologies.
Requirements
Previous experience working as a Data Engineer or within a similar role.
Strong experience with Python or PySpark.
Experience with cloud data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or Snowflake.
Knowledge of SQL and data transformation techniques.
Experience building and maintaining data pipelines.
Previous experience working within the construction industry.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
Experience working within Agile environments and using Git repositories is desirable.
What's on Offer
Salary of 60,000 - 70,000 depending on experience.
