Staff Product Quality Engineer

The Product Quality Engineer is an important customer-facing, hands-on role within the Corporate Quality team which owns product quality and interfaces daily with our business groups and divisions.  This position requires strong collaboration with Product & Test Engineering, Customer Quality, Central Engineering, and Manufacturing & Operations for Analog Mixed Signal group.

The ideal candidate will possess 8+ years of semiconductor industry experience with a strong background in one or more of the following disciplines:

• Product Quality Engineering
• Reliability Engineering
• Product Engineering
• Sustaining Product Engineering
• Test Engineering

• Product Quality responsibility from qualification through production release to end of life. Become and be the subject matter expert regarding a product’s quality.
• Serve as the quality focal point for assigned product families and technology platforms.
• Establish quality strategies, risk mitigation plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Drive improvement through involvement in safe launch and analysis of customer returns to identify weaknesses and propose systemic solutions.
• Engage with Analog Mixed Signal business unit and manufacturing, fostering a collaborative team environment to resolve challenges to ensure quality goals are met.
• Support sustaining product engineering activities including yield excursions and quality issues.
• Collaborate with Test Engineering to improve test coverage, guard-banding, screening strategy, and defect detection capability.
• Analyze manufacturing and test data to identify quality and reliability risks.
• Support statistical analysis of production data to drive yield and quality improvements.
• Key member of cross-functional global 8D teams to ensure expedient resolution of customer quality issues from initiation to closure.
• Execute fast, effective containment.
• Facilitate the use of structured problem-solving tools (Is/Is-Not, Fault Tree Analysis, Fishbone, 5-why, 8D) for thorough root cause investigations to ensure effective corrective actions (occurrence, escape and systemic).
• Deploy lessons learned across organizational boundaries and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
• Report and present to internal (and external as needed) customers regularly documenting it as necessary.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Semiconductor Engineering, or equivalent.
• 8+ years in Product Quality Engineering or a comparable role, in the semiconductor industry, e.g. Reliability, Product Test, Failure Analysis or Product Engineering.
• Good knowledge of semiconductor device fabrication, package assembly and testing with familiarity of fail mechanisms and symptoms.
• Strong analytical and statistical problem-solving skills.
• Excellent ability to manage both internal and external dynamic environments and circumstances through influence and negotiation skills to respond to challenging information and situations.
• Candidate should have a solid quality / engineering background, along with good team collaboration and communication skills across worldwide time zones with a track record of accomplishments
• Experience with EFAR, 8D, PPAP, APQP, PCN, and customer quality management.
• Experience supporting automotive, industrial, power management, mixed-signal, or analog semiconductor products preferred.
• Strong technical problem solving and hands-on skills in quality tools and methodologies; Automotive knowledge, e.g. APQP, AEC and VDA a plus.
