Job Description

University Hospital is seeking an experienced Senior Epic Analyst specializing in Professional Billing (PB) Claims and Remittance. The Senior Epic Analyst will be responsible for designing, configuring, testing, implementing, and maintaining Epic applications. This role involves leading requirements gathering, workflow design, application enhancements, testing, and production support while collaborating with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, Epic representatives, and IT teams.

The ideal candidate will have strong Epic application expertise, experience in healthcare IT, and the ability to lead complex projects, troubleshoot application issues, support system upgrades, and mentor junior analysts.

Key Responsibilities

Analysis, Design & Configuration

• Lead needs assessments, application design, implementation, and ongoing support.
• Gather and analyze business requirements in collaboration with operational stakeholders and reporting teams.
• Facilitate workflow design sessions with subject matter experts to improve efficiency, resolve complex workflow issues, and support quality initiatives.
• Configure and implement Epic application changes based on business requirements.
• Lead application build reviews and coordinate the migration of changes into production.
• Define and maintain user access and security configurations.
• Mentor other analysts in workflow analysis, application design, and configuration.

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Perform unit testing for assigned application builds.
• Lead functional and integrated testing to validate application functionality and design objectives.
• Develop, modify, and maintain testing scripts for assigned application areas.
• Identify and troubleshoot defects and ensure application changes meet business requirements.
• Support other application analysts with testing activities as needed.

Project & Change Management

• Lead projects through the full lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design through implementation and transition to operations.
• Follow established Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop change management strategies and implementation plans.
• Assess the impact of system changes and develop plans to support new functionality.
• Coordinate implementation activities and support end-user adoption.

Application Maintenance & Support

• Troubleshoot Epic application issues and coordinate with vendors and internal teams for resolution.
• Support inbound and outbound interfaces, investigate transaction errors, and monitor interface error queues.
• Lead issue escalation and resolution with appropriate technical and operational teams.
• Independently manage application upgrades and complex troubleshooting activities.
• Maintain application security and follow established change control processes.
• Participate in scheduled 24/7 on-call support rotations.

Mentoring & Documentation

• Mentor, train, and develop junior application analysts and team members.
• Provide guidance on application design, configuration, testing, and project assignments.
• Support onboarding and training of new team members.
• Develop and maintain application documentation, policies, procedures, and workflows.
• Collaborate with clinicians, IT teams, system analysts, and IT leadership on documentation standards.
• Contribute to end-user training materials and participate in training activities.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience designing, configuring, testing, and maintaining Epic applications.
• Active Epic Application Certification.
• Epic Professional Billing (PB) Claims and Remittance Certification Required.
• Experience with Epic application configuration, implementation, testing, and production support.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience gathering requirements, designing workflows, and collaborating with business stakeholders.
• Ability to lead projects, troubleshoot complex issues, and mentor junior analysts.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Healthcare, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience working in a healthcare-related IT environment.
• Experience with application upgrades, integrated testing, interface troubleshooting, and change management.
• Knowledge of healthcare business workflows and application security.
