Belcan are currently supporting one of their clients as they are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to support a high-profile programme within the Public Sector. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and self-sufficient professional with a strong background in complex operational delivery, logistics, and stakeholder coordination.

The Role

As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and renewing elements of operational programmes, managing project plans, and coordinating complex activities across multiple locations.

A key aspect of the role involves supporting live weapon firing activities in the UK and overseas, including deployments to locations such as the USA and the Arctic. You'll be responsible for ensuring that personnel, equipment, logistics, and operational requirements are effectively coordinated and delivered.

This is a varied position requiring the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and coordinate operations within challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee operational plans and project activities.
• Coordinate complex logistics and support arrangements for UK and international deployments.
• Ensure equipment, cargo and freight requirements are delivered to operational locations.
• Support operational activities associated with live weapon firing exercises.
• Coordinate specialist training and support requirements where necessary.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of operational objectives.
• Attend workshops and meetings at other locations when required.
• Provide operational support across wider programmes during quieter periods.

Essential Experience

• Proven experience managing complex operations and programmes.
• Strong background in logistics, freight, cargo management, or operational coordination.
• Experience delivering activities across multiple locations and challenging environments.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent planning, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working within government, defence, military, engineering, or similarly complex operational environments.

Desirable Experience

• Military background, particularly experience as a:
  • Quartermaster
  • Submariner
  • Logistics Officer
  • Operational Support Manager
• Previous experience supporting overseas exercises, deployments, or large-scale operational programmes.

Working Arrangements

• Primarily remote working.
• Attendance at Bristol required based on operational needs.
• Site attendance is expected approximately 60% of the time but may vary considerably depending on programme requirements. Some weeks may require multiple days onsite, whilst others may be fully remote.
