Job description



A recognized institution in Virginia is seeking a Lead/Sr. Java Developer in Richmond to support the design, development, and delivery of complex software components for an enterprise workflow modernization initiative.


About the Opportunity:




  • Shift: Day shift




  • Schedule: Monday to Friday




  • Hours: Standard business




  • Setting: On-site




Responsibilities:




  • Lead end-to-end solution design, development, and implementation for complex software components




  • Apply Java development expertise to build scalable, secure, and maintainable applications




  • Design software architecture, database structures, and microservices-based solutions




  • Mentor junior and mid-level developers and promote consistent engineering practices




  • Conduct technical reviews, troubleshoot issues, and support deployment and production stability




Qualifications:




  • 8+ years of hands-on software development experience and 3+ years leading development teams




  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field




  • Strong proficiency in Java and experience with multiple programming languages and frameworks




  • Knowledge of software design patterns, relational and document databases, and SQL




  • Understanding of cloud computing platforms and services




  • Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and other software development methodologies




  • Proven ability to guide and mentor junior and mid-level developers




  • Experience contributing to project estimation and planning




  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills




  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills




  • Adaptability to changing project requirements and technologies




  • Knowledge of software security principles and best practices




Desired Skills:




  • 12+ years of software development and design experience and 7+ years leading development teams




  • Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field





  • Agile or Scrum certification






  • Relevant certifications in Java, Spring, React, Angular, or related development technologies





  • Experience designing complex software systems and implementing microservices-based solutions




  • Proficiency in both front-end and back-end technologies




  • Familiarity with DevOps tools, continuous integration and deployment, and infrastructure as code




  • Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity practices and integrating security into software development




  • Proficiency with NoSQL databases
