Quick overview
Job description
For over 100 years, we've stood up for people when they need us most. With courage and compassion, we've helped countless Australians get access to justice. We look past the immediate problem, back people through the moments that matter, and keep pushing for better outcomes for our clients. We back our people to do the same, and to go fearlessly forward together.
Our work is real cases with real results in people's lives. It's why we're one of Australia's most respected law firms. Maurice Blackburn, experience you can count on.
The roleThe AWS landscape is yours. As our Senior Cloud Engineer in our Connect team, you'll own its architecture, roadmap and day-to-day health. You'll solve what's not working and decide what improves next.
You'll also put AI agents to work on live operations: agents that flag cost spikes, triage support issues, and find vulnerabilities before anyone else does. You build the guardrails that keep them safe, and you decide when a person needs to step in.
Our systems hold client information and support client-facing work, so security and reliability matter here. You'll have the autonomy to solve hard problems and the backing to try new ideas, and the impact will be visible.
What you'll do- Own our AWS landscape: architecture, technical roadmap and continuous improvement
- Build and run scalable multi-account AWS foundations with infrastructure as code
- Design and troubleshoot networking, DNS, certificates and connectivity across AWS and firm platforms
- Build agent-assisted security monitoring and run authorised testing for risks like prompt injection and unsafe tool use
- Improve observability, incident response and recovery, and turn recurring issues into tested automation
- Create secure environments for AI agents, with clear controls on data, tools, network access, resources and audit trails
- Build CI/CD and self-service pathways so teams can deliver safely and quickly
- Cut manual effort and cloud costs, and prove the savings
You see the big picture and still love getting hands-on. You take ownership, work through complex problems end to end, and work well with technology and security teams.
- Strong experience designing, running and improving production AWS environments, including multi-account architecture and governance
- Deep infrastructure-as-code skills: reusable modules, state and drift management, safe deployments
- Solid technical depth in IAM, networking, encryption and secrets management
- Experience in observability, incident response, recovery testing and cloud security
- Strong CI/CD, scripting and automation skills, including testing, policy controls, approvals and rollback
- Hands-on experience with AI agents or agentic engineering, and a clear grasp of risks like data leakage and unsafe tool use
- A track record of measurable gains in reliability, efficiency, security or cloud cost
Experience building governed self-service platforms, coding-agent environments or AI-enabled operational tooling will be highly regarded.
A degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is welcome. AWS certifications help, but we care most about what you've delivered.
Additional InformationOur shared values represent what we stand for and guide how we act, with Courage, Compassion, Collaboration, Fairness and Tenacity.
We love that you have a life outside of work, and we're happy to support yours. We provide you with a safe, supportive and collaborative environment, backed by inclusive leaders and progressive people policies, where you can be your authentic self and thrive. Here, we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive culture, enriched by differences in ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, religion, age and family arrangements. Applications from First Nations People are encouraged.
Our Circle Back Initiative partnership means we're committed to responding to every applicant.
Please note that all successful candidates will be required to undergo background checks as part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant workplace
