Workshop & Facilities Manager

Western Power Steering is looking for a practical and proactive Workshop & Facilities Manager to take ownership of our workshop, machinery, facilities and day-to-day health & safety.

We're a small, established automotive engineering business with around 15 employees, so this is a hands-on role with real responsibility and visible impact.

You'll ensure the workshop is safe, compliant, well maintained and running efficiently, while identifying and implementing improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the maintenance, condition and organisation of the workshop, machinery and equipment.
• Plan and coordinate servicing, repairs and statutory inspections.
• Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection and compliance records.
• Carry out regular workplace health & safety inspections and manage risk assessments, COSHH and PPE requirements.
• Support fire safety, incident investigations and safe working practices.
• Manage building, facilities, waste, welfare and general site maintenance.
• Coordinate contractors, engineers, suppliers and external service providers.
• Identify hazards, maintenance issues and opportunities for improvement, taking ownership through to completion.
• Maintain a clean, organised and professional working environment.

About You

We're looking for someone who is practical, organised and proactive, with experience in an engineering, automotive, manufacturing, workshop or similar environment.

You'll ideally have:

• Experience working with machinery, equipment and workshop maintenance.
• A good understanding of workplace health & safety.
• Experience with risk assessments and/or COSHH.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• The confidence to work independently and manage contractors and suppliers.
• A hands-on approach and the ability to identify problems and get them resolved.

Desirable: IOSH or NEBOSH qualification, engineering/mechanical background, and experience with planned preventative maintenance and workplace compliance.

Salary: £30,000–£37,000 depending on experience

Hours: Full-time
