Overview:

Are you an experienced Commissioning Engineer, Gas Turbine Engineer, Generator Engineer, Field Service Engineer or Power Generation Engineer looking for a technically challenging role with extensive international exposure?

We are recruiting for a Commissioning Engineer to join an established specialist in gas turbine generator sets and power generation equipment.

This is a hands-on, multi-disciplinary engineering position involving the electrical and mechanical commissioning, testing, fault finding and performance validation of gas turbine packages and associated generator equipment.

The role is based in Newton Abbot when not travelling, with extensive overseas travel to customer sites to commission and hand over equipment.

The Role:

  • As Commissioning Engineer, you will take responsibility for commissioning gas turbine-powered generator sets from pre-commissioning and factory testing through to installation, site commissioning, performance testing and customer handover.
  • You will work across electrical, mechanical and controls systems, troubleshooting equipment, supporting field teams and customers, and ensuring commissioning activities are completed safely, accurately and to the required quality standards.
  • The role also offers the opportunity to take a lead on site, supervising engineers and subcontractors and providing technical support, coaching and training to colleagues and customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commission gas turbine generator sets and associated equipment at company facilities and customer sites worldwide.
  • Carry out both electrical and mechanical commissioning and testing.
  • Undertake cold and hot commissioning of gas turbine packages and associated systems.
  • Support pre-commissioning, factory testing and preparation of equipment prior to site delivery.
  • Carry out performance testing and validate equipment against technical and customer requirements.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical and controls-related faults.
  • Interpret and work from electrical and mechanical engineering drawings.
  • Prepare and follow commissioning procedures, programmes, schedules, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Identify faults and non-conformances and support corrective and preventative actions.
  • Provide technical support remotely to field service and commissioning engineers.
  • Supervise subcontractors and other personnel during site commissioning activities.
  • Provide technical coaching, mentoring and product training to colleagues and customers.
  • Support maintenance and calibration of commissioning equipment and facilities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of commissioning procedures, products and working practices.
  • Maintain accurate commissioning records, test results and technical documentation.
  • Promote high standards of Health & Safety, quality and environmental compliance.
  • Travel extensively overseas to customer sites as required by project schedules.
