The opportunity
Kennedy International School provides a bilingual, well-rounded education for its students from preschool through 12th grade. We are looking for a part-time Preschool Teacher Assistant to join our Japanese Saturday School, specifically in the 3 year-old program for the 2026-2027 School Year and starting August 29th, 2026.
This role will be from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm on Saturdays (with 30 minute break) and reports into the Japanese Saturday School Director.
The ideal candidate will be compassionate and self-motivated as well as possessing an innate joy of working with young children. He/she will be devoted to building a nurturing and safe learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Assisting teachers with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment
- Working with the lead teacher to monitor the class schedule
- Going over lesson material with students individually or in small groups
- Ensuring the classroom environment is safe, clean and tidy
- Overseeing students during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch, recess, and on-field excursions
- Collaborating with lead teachers to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions
- Helping lead teachers to create lesson plans
- During camps, participating as an Lead Teacher
- Complying with state, school, and class rules and regulations.
- Attending all training classes, parent conferences, and faculty meetings
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in education or relevant field is preferred
- Japanese fluency required
- A minimum of 2 years experience as a teaching assistant or similar role
- Solid understanding of classroom activities and teaching best practices
- Must have a compassionate and positive attitude
- Outstanding interpersonal and presentation abilities
- Preferred candidate will have a current U.S. work visa, if applicable
This role is paid at $28.52 per hour.
