Senior SDET / QA Automation Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior SDET / QA Automation Engineer with strong experience in API automation, backend/data validation, SQL, performance testing, and event-driven systems.

This is not a traditional UI automation role. The primary focus will be testing backend APIs, validating database-to-API data flows, testing queues/event streams, building automation frameworks, and performing performance and resiliency testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain API automation frameworks for REST/API-driven applications.

• Automate backend services using C#/.NET and related testing frameworks.

• Perform SQL/database validation to verify data integrity and API-to-database consistency.

• Test event-driven systems, XML messages, queues, and event streams.

• Develop and execute performance, load, availability, and resiliency tests.

• Build and enhance scalable test automation frameworks.

• Analyze application and API behavior, troubleshoot failures, and independently debug issues.

• Validate high-availability, failure, recovery, and negative scenarios.

• Collaborate closely with developers, architects, and other QA engineers to identify and resolve defects.

• Leverage GitHub, GitHub Actions, GitHub Copilot, and AI-assisted testing where appropriate.

Required Skills

• Strong experience with API automation and REST API testing.

• Strong SQL and database validation skills.

• Hands-on C#/.NET experience in an API/backend testing environment.

• Experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter or similar.

• Experience testing queues, event-driven systems, XML messages, or event streaming platforms.

• Strong experience developing/customizing automation frameworks.

• Experience with Git/GitHub and CI/CD.

• Ability to read and understand application code and troubleshoot backend/API issues.

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, or similar messaging platforms.

• Experience with resiliency, failure, recovery, and high-availability testing.

• Experience with GitHub Copilot or AI-assisted QA/testing.

• Experience testing distributed or microservices-based applications.

• Experience with automated API contract/schema validation.

Important Note

UI automation is not the primary focus of this position. Candidates should have strong hands-on experience in API/backend automation, SQL validation, performance testing, and event/queue testing, with C#/.NET experience being highly important.
