Journeyman OCI Database Admin with Security Clearance

PRISM is seeking a Journeyman Oracle OCI Database Administrator to support the provisioning, administration, patching, security hardening, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Oracle databases hosted in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The resource will support Oracle Database 19c/23c environments, including Container Databases (CDBs) and Pluggable Databases (PDBs), while following established procedures for backup, recovery, performance management, cloud operations, STIG compliance, and migration activities. This is a remote position. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provision and administer Oracle databases on OCI DB Systems, Exadata Cloud Service, and Autonomous Database platforms.
• Perform routine CDB/PDB administration, including cloning, patching, upgrades, and resource management.
• Plan and execute Oracle database and operating system patching using Ansible, established playbooks, and approved change-management procedures.
• Support quarterly patching, emergency patching, patch validation, rollback activities, and post-patch health checks.
• Apply and maintain Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) configurations and security hardening standards for Oracle databases, operating systems, and applicable OCI resources.
• Review STIG findings, remediate applicable vulnerabilities, document exceptions, and maintain evidence of compliance.
• Support RMAN backup and recovery operations, Data Guard administration, and disaster recovery activities.
• Monitor database health and performance using AWR, ASH, SQL analysis, and standard diagnostic tools.
• Troubleshoot database, connectivity, performance, compute, storage, network, patching, and OCI resource issues.
• Develop, maintain, and execute Ansible playbooks and automation scripts using Terraform, OCI CLI, Bash, Python, or similar tools.
• Support database migrations, modernization activities, testing, and operational readiness.
• Maintain procedures, runbooks, patching plans, STIG checklists, knowledge articles, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with senior database engineers, cloud infrastructure, engineering, cybersecurity, and security compliance teams; escalate complex issues when appropriate. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS/EDUCATION):
• Certification Requirements: DoD 8570 IAT II (e.i. Security+)
• 3-5 years of Oracle Database Administration experience.
• 1-2 years of hands-on OCI experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of Oracle Database 19c/23c and multitenant CDB/PDB architecture.
• Experience with Oracle database patching, upgrade support, and post-patch validation.
• Experience using Ansible for patching or infrastructure automation.
• Familiarity with STIG implementation, security hardening, vulnerability remediation, or compliance documentation.
• Familiarity with OCI services and concepts, including VCNs, subnets, IAM, compartments, storage, and security.
• Experience with database monitoring, troubleshooting, backup/recovery, and change management.
• Basic experience with RMAN and Data Guard.
• Ability to use or learn Terraform, OCI CLI, Bash, Python, or similar automation tools.
• Experience supporting production or enterprise database environments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Execute standard patching and hardening activities independently using approved procedures and automation.
• Validate patch success through database, application, connectivity, and performance checks.
• Identify and remediate routine STIG findings and escalate complex security issues.
• Maintain accurate patching records, compliance evidence, and operational documentation.
• Recognize when issues require escalation to a senior engineer or SME.
• Work effectively with distributed engineering, cloud, cybersecurity, and security compliance teams.
• Ansible certification or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Experience with Oracle Critical Patch Updates and patch lifecycle management.
• Experience applying Oracle Database and Linux STIGs.
• Experience supporting vulnerability scans and remediation activities.
• Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code experience.
• Oracle Database certification or progress toward OCP.
