Associate Scientist - Protein Chemistry - Onsite

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking an Associate Scientist - Protein Chemistry for an Onsite position with a Global Biotechnology Company located in Thousand Oaks, CA. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

This role is part of a multidisciplinary Protein Therapeutics team with broad capabilities in protein engineering, expression, purification, and characterization. The successful candidate will support the analysis and characterization of large molecule, therapeutic drug candidates, many of which are complex biologics. This position will contribute to the execution of analytics, molecular assessment, and protein purification to support lead candidate selection and advance the development pipeline.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and characterize complex molecules that will be the next generation of large molecule therapeutics
• Contribute to the execution of analytics, molecular assessment, and protein purification capabilities
• Organize, analyze, and report findings to support lead candidate selection
• Operate and troubleshoot automation platforms for high throughput purification and analytics
• Partner with Project, Analytics, and Automation teams to advance the pipeline
• Capture experimental data in LIMS/ELN systems

Requirements:

• Master's degree in life sciences OR Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant scientific experience
• Experience with protein purification and/or protein analytics techniques, instrumentation, and software
• Hands-on experience with protein analytical techniques such as HPLC, FPLC, MCE, gel-based analysis, or Western blot
• Familiarity with analysis software (e.g., Chromeleon, LabChip)
• Strong communication skills, ability to multi-task, and work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
• Hands-on protein purification experience within a laboratory environment for purification-focused candidates

Desired skills:

• Knowledge of high throughput purification and analytical techniques
• Experience with handling and analyzing large datasets
• Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and creative problem-solving

Pay range: up to $28.85 per hour
