Job Summary
As a Transaction Monitoring Analyst (L1), you will be responsible for the first level of review in the transaction monitoring process. The role involves reviewing high-volume transaction monitoring alerts, analyzing customer and transaction information, clearing risk-irrelevant alerts, and escalating potentially suspicious or higher-risk activity for further investigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Review transaction monitoring alerts using established procedures and playbooks.
- Review customer KYC profiles, risk ratings, transaction history, and account information.
- Perform initial risk assessments and identify potentially suspicious activity.
- Clear alerts that meet predefined risk-irrelevant criteria with proper documentation.
- Escalate unusual, complex, or higher-risk alerts to L2 Analysts.
- Maintain accurate and complete case documentation.
- Work closely with L2 Analysts, Team Leads, Compliance, QA, and Audit teams.
- Meet quality, productivity, and turnaround-time expectations in a high-volume environment.
- Identify recurring issues and contribute to process improvements.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of AML/CFT and transaction monitoring principles.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Law, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of experience in AML, Transaction Monitoring, Financial Crime, KYC/CDD, or related banking operations.
- Candidates with relevant academic backgrounds and transferable knowledge may also be considered.
- Basic understanding of AML/CFT and transaction monitoring principles.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
