Packaging Systems Engineer

As a Downstream Engineer at ALPLA Inc., you will support safe, reliable operation of downstream equipment on high-speed plastic packaging lines. You will monitor and optimize conveyors, trimmers, case packers, and palletizing systems to ensure consistent product flow, quality, and uptime. Partnering with production, maintenance, and quality teams, you will troubleshoot mechanical and minor controls issues, support changeovers, and drive continuous improvement, waste reduction, and 5S. In ALPLA's collaborative, sustainability-focused environment, you will grow with training and exposure to advanced packaging technologies.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and adjust downstream equipment for plastic bottle and packaging lines.
• Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting to minimize downtime and maintain throughput.
• Conduct quality checks on finished products, documenting results per SOPs.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality teams to resolve line issues.
• Follow all safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards, including lockout/tagout.
• Support setup, changeovers, and optimization of downstream machinery and conveyors.
• Participate in continuous improvement, waste reduction, and 5
• S activities.
• Assist with preventive maintenance and report equipment issues promptly.
• Train with senior technicians and engineers on new technologies and best practices.
• Contribute to a culture of reliability, teamwork, and sustainability in manufacturing.
