Quality Assurance Lead

Trupanion is seeking a Quality Assurance Lead to advocate for quality and guide our testing teams over the Web, Mobile, and Member Experiences areas of our business while reporting to the Senior Manager, Quality Assurance. With your focus on continuous improvement, you’ll work closely with our business and engineering partners to develop new processes, features, and services. You’ll leverage your deep understanding of the fundamental test process and modern testing practices and tools to guide day-to-day Quality Assurance operations. 

This position is open to candidates in the Seattle, WA area. You will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule where you will work from our casual, pet-friendly office at least 3 days a week.

Responsibilities: 

• Lead global test teams through sprints, ensuring appropriate test coverage, while providing guidance, mentorship, and support throughout the Software Test Lifecycle (STLC). 
• Oversee the development of test plans and test designs that span multiple sprints to guide our test approach towards business and tech-driven milestones. 
• Assure that our critical quote and enrollment journeys have a reliable uptime by leading a strike team that is monitoring its quality and reacting to incidents and live defects appropriately. 
• Work alongside project and product managers, developers, and other business collaborators to define testing objectives and estimated timelines. 
• Manage all aspects of end-to-end testing, including functional, integration, regression, performance, and compatibility testing. 
• Build upon our culture of quality and continuous improvement by fostering an environment that’s open to feedback and collaboration. 
• Ensure that test cases are developed, implemented, and documented according to established standards, while evolving our best practices to meet our ever-changing business. 
• Coordinate user-acceptance testing activities with business partners to validate that solutions meet business requirements and user expectations. 
• Reinforce Quality Assurance processes and standards to maintain product quality and compliance throughout the development lifecycle. 
• Conduct periodic reviews of testing deliverables, defect reports, and automation code to identify outliers and areas for improvement. 
• Evaluate testing tools and technologies to streamline testing processes and improve efficiency. 
• Drive the adoption of new tools and technology, such as the use of AI and test frameworks, to enhance test coverage and accelerate release cycles. 
• Prepare and present test plans, progress/test closure reports, and quality metrics to project collaborators and senior management. 
• Communicate risks effectively with cross-functional teams and collaborate to identify mitigation strategies and dependencies impacting testing activities. 

Qualifications: 

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in senior testing roles within fast-paced, regulated environments (e.g., healthcare, finance) and 2 years of directing the work of Quality Assurance professionals. 
• Exceptional knowledge of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes. 
• Skilled in test planning, execution, and defect management, including leadership responsibilities. 
• Proven knowledge of best practices in performance management, mentorship, and coaching. 
• Having a background in IT infrastructure, CI/CD software delivery, particularly Azure DevOps technologies, is a strong plus. 
• Practical familiarity with test automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, and Playwright 
• Hands-on experience with tools like SQL, Postman, Jira, SharePoint, and BrowserStack

Compensation: 

• The base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $120,000 on a full-time schedule. 
• Along with base compensation, Trupanion employees are currently eligible for monthly bonuses. 
• We want all employees to be invested in Trupanion’s success, so we grant Restricted Stock Units to all new team members. Our new hire grants vest over 4 years.
