Shipping & Receiving Supervisor

AZZ has an exciting opportunity for a Shipping/Receiving Supervisor at our Blacksburg facility. Reporting to the Operations Manager you will support the daily activities of the shipping/ receiving team. You will ensure the incoming/outgoing material is properly labeled and documented for accuracy. You will assist in ensuring we maximize quality, safety, productivity, and profitability.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates activities of shipping/receiving team to ensure the verification and recording of all incoming / outgoing shipments and preparing items for safe shipment.
• Requires intense attention to detail with shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders and other records to define shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to meet shipping/ receiving schedules and proper billing.
• Oversee and inspects incoming/outgoing shipping activities to make sure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments. Helps determines space requirements and position of shipment on various types of trucks.
• Ensures safe operation of all material handling equipment. Ensure daily Inspections of material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or notifies supervisor if outside service facility is needed for repair. Ensure team completes daily vehicle maintenance reports.
• Works with Ops Team to assist in movement of material from shipping and receiving to work areas.
• Tracks unfilled orders, posts weight and shipping charges, prepares bills of lading.
• Will assist workers in shipping/receiving activities as required.
• Performs other duties as described by management.

• At least 1 year of supervisory experience is preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills needed and Attention to Details a must!

Minimum Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
