POSITION SUMMARY:

Focus Interpreting is excited to announce an opportunity for a skilled American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter in San Francisco. In this dynamic role, you will facilitate communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals across various professional settings, ensuring accurate and effective interpretation services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver interpretation services in diverse environments, including healthcare, educational institutions, and corporate settings, making effective communication accessible to all participants.
  • Translate spoken language into ASL and ASL back into spoken language smoothly and in real-time.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality, adhering to ethical standards throughout each assignment.
  • Keep up to date with developments in both ASL and English language to provide high-quality interpretation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a high level of proficiency in English.
  • Certification as an ASL interpreter preferred, demonstrating your expertise in the field.
  • Deep understanding of Deaf culture and the nuances of communication within that context.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and juggle multiple assignments while maintaining focus and precision in interpretation.
